New player needs help please

I started a "free game" and built a town. Now I got a task by Qing that I should get some manuscript from her ship. Her ship is there and has two arrows above it. Now I should move my ship to her ship. My ship (it's the one which is there from the beginning) is right next to her ship but I can't for the life of me figure out how to move my ship. Please help, thank you.

Sometimes it's slow to react, but if the ship is in the radius of her ship (the small circle.)
You should be able to click her ship to prompt the next que/objective in the quest.

How to move a ship: left click on the ship, then right click on the location you want it to go.

Thank you both, I'll try that. The ship is not within the radius, it's a bit further.

May I add one more question. I don't have any DLCs (yet) and my map only shows one island (the one I'm on). Can I still send my ship exploring? I can't find out how. Or do you need DLCs to send your ship somehwere else?

You started on the "Old World" map. There are many islands to explore, just send your ship across the map and you'll find something. Well, at first you need to figure out how to move the ship.
You'll also need to settle on some more islands later, to get enough ressources and fulfill your inhabitants needs.
Btw: when starting a new game you can also chose to play with a revealed map, then you would see all islands on your current map.

Later in your game you'll be able to explore one more map, the "New World".
That's a good idea to start the game without DLCs , it's content is overwhelming huge, and so you can learn the basics much better. You can add the DLCs then later one by one to your existing save.

So after some try and error I managed to get that manuscript from the ship, but it doesn't show up in my ship's inventory. Nevertheless, the quest moved on and I managed to navigate my ship to the lighthouse where I should deliver the manuscript. My ship is right next to the lighthouse but I don't know how to deliver it. Any tips highly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for your help :) It didn't work because I didn't have that manuscript in my ship, as all three slots were taken. And I thought if it hadn't worked somehow, the quest would not have continued. I went back to my home island and couldn't empty my ship storage because my land storages were full. And the time was almost up. Count it as one of the usual beginner mistakes when everything goes wrong and you have no idea what you are doing :)

You can throw your wares overboard if needed. Just right click on them.

But don't worry about messing up a few quests, you will get many of them. They are good early game money makers, but failing one isn't a big deal.
