I'm playing on a 3 stars game and they are buying parts of my island at 600.000 golds regulary, destroying each ones' islands every 30min and they own huge floats, so it doesn't look like it's affected.
when you say 3 stars game, is your income and influence options also set to low? just to confirm
Yes, Silva, Graves and Hunt, income on low, fertility and influence on medium (plus some other options that shouldn't have influence like pirates on high, trade on low, ...)
i only ask because you say they have large fleets? not in my game. i literally never get more than one ship of the line attacking me at any point. I have influence set to low. where you set yours to medium. so i do wonder if AI difficulty parameters are adjusted depending on the game settings
No it depends on the AI you're playing against.
If you play against an easy AI, like Bente Jorgensen she will not build a war fleet.
Even if she has all the money and islands, she won't build a large fleet.
But if you play against a hard AI, like Margaret Hunt, she will always build a war fleet.
Even when she's not supposed to have any money or influence for it.
Like others said, the AI does not follow the same rules as the player.
