Any DLCs to disable on a new run?
Thinking about picking the game back up with all the Season passes.
When I last played the game had like 3 DLCs or something and I remember so many things happening at once, that I did not enjoy the pace.

Now with 4 years worth of DLCs, will this be more extreme, or did they pace the DLCs somewhat, so they don't all pop up at once, before you get even settled down on the first map?

Related question:
Still possible to disable DLCs and activate them after the fact, to kind of make my own progression path?

Hello,
If you open a new game without any DLC , it was not possible to activate one after...
But there is no probleme to activate alls...Just make the expedition when you want.
That's all... I am plaiying actually the campaing with alls the DLC...^^

The DLCs sadly still pop up pretty much around the same time; Enbesa at 100 Artisans, Sunken Treasures at 700 Artisans, Arctic at 1 Engineer (not to mention New World becomes available at 1 Artisan), so you still get hit with them all fairly quick. I do wish they would space that out better.

Also, you can't activate a DLC after you've started a Campaign or Sandbox and chosen not to include it at the start.

Thanks guys.
Guess I remember that one wrong then. Making this even worse.

But if there is no other way, ill have to do it that way. ;-)

i more or less ignore arctic completely until im ready. trelawny you dont have to mega rush into as crown falls cant be colonized by the ai but they will take the smaller islands. Enbesa i dont bother with till im ready as i can just take one from the AI when i want to go visit.

Tourism and docklands you can avoid entirely until you're ready. they're nice extra's but not neccesary

You cannot afford to wait with the Arctic nor Cape Trelawney when you are playing together with a friend in coop mode. In this mode the AI will go everywhere before you do and claim any island. I had AI claim Crown Falls and occupy all glaciers. It's tough. And it's not fun if you'd rather go one step at a time.

I know it should be possible to activate the DLCs in sequence because after all, when we first bought and installed each DLC, the game would ask us if we wanted to activate it for our old save-game the next time we loaded it. In other words, you can imagine enabling the DLCs one at a time by deleting all of them and then installing them again one at a time... and this means it _has_ to be possible to do this some other way too.

I have been looking around, and I found this: https://github.com/olescheller/anno1800-retroactive-dlc-activation
I am going to try it soon and report back.

caveat: I am playing under linux, not windows.
