Avoid out of stock panic, use the marketplace goods screen
The stats page is great but involved. The marketplace makes stock monitoring a breeze. In one place you can examine the needs of the different population tiers to see if you are headed for trouble on the island.

Unlike the display you get when you click on an individual residence, where a blue bar means a need is not completely met, on this marketplace panel a full blue bar is a warning that though the need is fully satisfied, stock is falling, your attention is needed. A green bar indicates that all is well on stock, no worries.

For example, you click on a worker residence and the sausage need bar is green, fully met. But you don't know from that if the stock is dependable or declining.

If you click on the marketplace and select the worker tier, a sausage green bar means need met and stock is fine. Blue means the need is met, but stock is falling...so it's time to head off trouble and correct the decline.

Thats a quick indicator ya but i prefer clicking on Production Buildings and then pressing the Statistics button which shows the exact production per Minute and how much is in demend and the stuff it needs.

It wont line up if you use externel Island productions like if you get iron from Island A and produce Steel on Island B, the Stats of Steel Mill wont display the Iron provision correctly.

control + left click on settlements to combine production so if you've got one island producing iron and another island using it up you can control+ left click both cities on the statistic page to see how things add up with production and consumption
