Open new region early or later?

Open new region, but many things happening at the same time, like ship being attacked in old region, had to jump back and manage. Then i completely forgot what i was doing in the new region, felt like a bit overwhelming for me, i wonder how do u guys manage multiple region ? Do u defeat all opponent in current region before opening newer regions or just multitask all the way ?

Just play somes games with AI only to unlocked the achievements.
If you want to play on the 4 continents .... without AI was a must...
You may start with somes AI one Star , but after a while you finally take it out of the game..

It is a challenge. I think it would help if the minimap had a faint color background, or possibly a colored icon that would change with the region. Since the notifications can come from anywhere, it's easy to respond to one and not realize it has put you into a different region.

If you're playing with a 2 star or 3 star AI you need to rush to the New World or they will claim the best islands. Followed by Crown Falls. They will never claim Crown Falls (They can take it from you though) but they will claim the other islands in the cape. Enbassa is next. The AI has a long delay before exploring there. They won't claim Tamborine but they will eventually take the rest of the islands and you will need Tamorine plus two more to have all resources. Last is the Icy North. You can wait as long as you want to go here. The AI will not ever explore it until you do first.

I always play with all 3 stars AI, I never unlock New World till I have 3 islands in Old World well setup providing all my island needs with defended shipping lanes. 2 of these islands I only have 990 farmers and 980 workers each to avoid the extra taxes you get when the island gets more then 1000 of a certain group.

I tend to leave 3 cannon towers in front of each islands port, usually it's enough to deter the AI from even trying to harassing your islands. This way I know I have a stable economy before I start to build up New World.

By the time I'm ready to go to New World, I can just take a huge fleet of ships and conquer whatever islands I want. And the new DLC guarantees you an area in the NW side of the map anyways.

I also befriend the pirates into an alliance before leaving for New World too. 1 share of each of the 3 AI's main islands make all money problems go away.

I have the default settings, means it should be a 2x 1Star and 1x 2Stars AI. can u like completely wipe out all AI then only go to the new world, then bring your fleet over, wipe out whichever islands that you want ? Never did that, just see if its possible this way.

It's definitely possible. You can conquer any of your competitors islands as long as they're not a neutral trader. Though this game really doesn't excell as a war game so if that's your plan I question why you don't just remove the ai competitors outright and play without them. I keep them in my game because I've seen how absolutely massive they can grow if given enough time and I want to let them build long enough to get to that point and then see if they'll be any more challenging. I've already fought them early game at war against all 3 star ai and it was trivial to manage them. It probably will be disappointing to face them later too but at least I don't get to just enjoy every island whenever I want since I had to beat them to them and don't plan to fight them anytime soon so can't take them and I need to have enough of a military just in case. But yes, if you so desire to fight and take any islands you want from them after they've settled them or to even wipe them out entirely then you're fully capable of doing that.

Restarted new game, wipe out the 2 Stars AI pre 1 hour, lets hope she havent start any expedition to the new world yet.
