Any reason to pick it up on Steam rather than Epic Game Store?
Like. Aside from price and platform preference, is there any reason to purchase it here? If it had some sort of steam workshop integration to make modding easier, for example. It would be a good reason.

id say for the same reasons i dont use epicgames, cause the sheer amount of internal space the games take up, ive waited awhile for this to come to steam simply cause of storage, steam has the steam download file that doesnt cause my computer to catch fire like epic games does... but now i have to wait like 23232 hours for it to download cause i live in the middle of nowhere and my internet goes at about 1mb every other minute lol... 89 gigs...89... biggest game ive seen in years! on steam lol

Just buy it through Ubisoft Connect that way you won't need either Epic or Steam to launch it. Both Epic and Steam require Ubi Connect to launch game.

1. The size of the game is the same no matter where you got it from

2. Several games are larger than this, regardless of being on steam

I would pick up at Ubisoft rather than epic/steam, it's just less painful to work with support. If epic/steam, you had 2 support to deal with if any issues come up. I think Ubisoft more stronger support and less issues come up, had a one launcher while playing game, rather than 2 launcher while playing game, but that what I think. Now, if game don't run by Ubisoft, I guess it's would be steam, since I prefer steam, but way thing handle it, better off on Ubisoft rather than steam to deal less painful when one need support. I don't like issues or problem so I tried avoid that.

I'll take this from another direction.

If you buy it on Steam and launch it once, it adds the game to your Ubisoft Connect account. No need for Steam from that point but unfortunately you gotta run it once through Steam and with 86GB this game has that's not a little bit.

Steam has integrated forums, reviews, guides, so basically Steam is the superior launcher. Other than that, no difference between Steam or Epic (for Anno at least). But it would be weird to buy it on Epic and then post questions here.

Why would it be weird. You think its a different game here or something. Absolutely nothing weird about it. 1000s of people buy games elsewhere and post in Steam forums about those games.

None at all. Infact buying it from Ubisoft is preferable so you don't have to run 2 launchers at once. I did several years ago.

u can make a turkish steam account then connect it too ur main account
this mean u can buy almost every game way cheaper then normal prices anno1800 is for example 50euro for fullgame +dlc's

Is there absolutely no way to avoid using the Ubisoft Launcher? This is legitimately annoying as hell.
