Whats this game like and is it worth 60 dollars for the dlc?
I am a big fan of city builders, I prefer a little combat and exploration but I can do without either. That being said, should I get this game? All the reviews I see are just talking about it being on steam again but I wanna know more about the actual gameplay.

note: I love Farthest frontiers and dawn of man, two of my favorite city builders.

It's very good.

Also how can you be a big fan of city builders and not know the Anno games? They have been around for decades (and been great).

I vaguely remember playing anno age of discovery or something and found it kind of boring? I hated how blocky and unrealistic my city looked but I understand thats just how some games are.

Hm. I'd suggest watching a let's play or something. The game has been out for 4 years, it shouldn't be hard to get an idea of whether you'd like it.

Its a great city builder, management game. The best of the historical Anno games. Can easily play this game for a few 100 hours.

Base game is good, but DLC add tons of options, new citizen tiers and even new lands, and imho worth your money. The ingame statistics screen is very helpful. It has some good quality of life features like copy/paste buildigs. There is an active modding community.

Game is a little different than Farthest Frontiers and Dawn of Man. In Anno there are no walkers, so you do not need to min/max walking distance and place your buildings in a strategic location. Your factories bring goods to warehouses, and the goods are then available through your entire island. You do need to transport goods from island to island. Citizens need to be in range of certain buildings like markets to get the goods. Again, they do not walk, it is just a radius. This make the game easier, but personally I prefer this, cause there is no weird AI pathfinding which kills the game.

There is however 'limited' land, so making good building layouts is recommended. Although land is only limited in the late game.

You can make the layout as you want. Game has many ornaments, trees, etc you can place between your buildings. It is however all in a grid and your roads can only go in straight lines. There are many players who 'beauty build' in the game instead of min/maxing.

Just get the main dlc and you can ignore the cosmetic stuff. The game looks stunning anyway. It's the best Anno. If you love Anno then you need this game.

I just looked on the store page and it is a bit confusing. Can't see season passes? They give you all the vital dlc. I can't see what the complete edition includes either?

It's all there. You just need to hit the "read more" tabs on the bottom right of boxes.
