Anno 1800

Anno 1800

How does it compare to 2070?
2070 was the only Anno game I ever played, and I loved that the game had two different starting factions.
However, it is the only Anno game I have ever played. Are you doing more or less the same thing every time you play 1800 or are there things you could possibly spec into to change things up for example?

1800 owns all other annos imo. by freakin far.

I tried the others, awhile ago, lost interest after a day or so and it felt slow n boring.

1800 I never felt that way. Especially if you fight 3 other 3 star AIs, more so with mods.
The anno series used to be at the bottom of my list for city building + some rts battle. But since 1800, its been #1 over all of them, including aoe2/3. Easily my top 10 all time fav.

it even has tons of different ways to play coop and battle is very rts like with a few AI mods, even vanilla ai is fun to battle against really.

1800 indeed is something special. I was more excited for this re-release than many new games lol.

You mention coop. Do the players share the same civilization? Or can every player be their own thing in the same world?
Asking just to be sure.

Coop means 2-4 players play the same civilization
Peaceful normal multiplayer where every player is on his own is also possible
Beware that no time acceleration ist possible in coop oder multiplayer

Anno 2070 is still my favourite, but Anno 1800 is a lot more complex than any other anno before and has a LOT more content. I've played my main save in Anno 1800 for over 200 hours and have not even built everything yet. It is the best Anno game so far overall, even if Anno 2070 is my favourite.

For PvP (trade or combat) multiplayer Anno 2070 is a lot better. Its combat system and complexity is a lot more suited for multiplayer than Anno 1800 which is mainly built for SP or COOP.

Players can play a non-peaceful multiplayer though, right?

1800 is basically 2070 on steroids, the core gameplay of producing goods for your citizen, transporting goods between island, and the RTS combat is still basically the same from 2070 but it does lose some of great 2070's feature such as the 2 different and very distinct starting faction but they make it up by having TONS of features like making each citizen tier more complex by having needs, happiness, and lifestyle compared to the quite simple citizen needs on 2070, also unlike 2070 where you only have 1 world/region to play on your current game, in 1800 you have multiple world/region (2 on the base game) where on each world you are basically playing another faction, in your original old world you play as the europeans, on the new world you play as the latin americans, on Enbesa if you have the DLC you play as the africans, all of them have their distinct needs you need to fulfill, and some of their needs can only be obtained from another region, like for the europeans needs for coffee, chocolate, and tobacco can only be acquired in the new world, and the latin americans need for sewing machine can only be obtained in the old world, each world is depending on each other so you need to export and import goods between regions which is cool. Also on 1800 you need workforce for every production building so it's another thing you have to manage unlike in 2070 where you don't need workforce for every building. There is still a LOT of feature i didn't cover but 1800 is very feature rich game and you can easily sink many hours on it, 2070 is used to be my favorite but 1800 is easily the BEST Anno game by far.

It's more similar to 2025, but much much better. You have different regions which have different resources etc. You can sail (or fly) between regions trading resources. I've played nearly 700 hours and there is still some things I've not discovered yet lmao. There is a lot to do in this game and finding the right balance is really addictive.
