What happens when u develop an item does it create an extra one or make it stronger or what?

You get item in warehouse, I think, but it's will cost more each time you develop item.

Yup, it's cost more each time you create item. I'm not sure there is cap, but cost keep going up each time you create item, so be careful not to lose that item sure as ship items and battle, lost at sea. Only create item that you need, if you can't get it easy. You better off check and try buy from trader, sure as Eli Bleakworth. Only then if you can't get or find item then create item from there. it's cheaper that way.

Just check out Neutral traders before you create item to see they had it, it's much cheaper in long terms. I think.

If you don't have any and develop one you will now have one. If you have one and develop another one you will have two.

No. When you develop an item, you get the item you developed. You don't get it "extra" (in sense that you have 2 items). If you develop for example "Bruno Ironbright" and the developing time is over, you will find this item in the warehouse.
