Some Town Hall items cannot be equipped?

I just purchased the "Intoxicator" from Eli at a high price.. She is supposed to provide schnapps for farmers' and workers' residences. After bringing her to my most populous island, which lacks potato fertility, I find that I cannot equip my town hall with her, even though she is in the town-hall section of my available items and there is a free space in the town hall.. This has hapened before with another item I wanted to equip.

Is it a bug, or is there something I don't understand?

Have read that trade unions and town halls are bugged. Someone on the Ubisoft forums even reported that all the specialists they had previously equipped in their town halls had disappeared.

Are you sure you're using the right one of town hall/trade union?

Otherwise I don't know unless it's the mentioned bugs that the last patch may have brought (fortunately they didn't affect me, because that sounds annoying).

Unable to socket items in Town Halls and Cultural Buildings
Description: In certain circumstances, some players are unable to socket items in the Town Hall, Trade Union, Zoo, Botanical Garden or the Museum, with the game telling the player that no items have been found, despite items being available on the island.
Not affected seems to be the Harbourmaster's Office.

Workaround: Loading the save solves the issue for the time being.

Dev Comment: As there does not seem to be a consistent reproduction for the issue, if you have found a way to consistently reproduce the problem, please let us know.

do this happen in old saved game or new save game, I wonder but it's don't look good, it's part of major gameplay for item effect.

I have the same issue. It only starts doing that after reaching a certain level of population though.

I've had this issue when clicking on the town hall or trade union select box a message would show NO items available when there were. I was however able to drop and drag the item from a warehouse item menu into the hall or union. Annoying but it works.

Hey everyone :)

Thanks for your reports of this issue. In addition to the workaround shared from the Trello by Dragonrubi (thanks for that!), there's now another workaround available, also from the Trello:

Opening either Item Development in the Research Institute or the item tab in the Statistics menu and resetting any filters should solve the issue.
It's also possible to open the Trading Post (e.g. by pressing "K") and dragging the items from there on the building (e.g. Trade Union).

My apologies for the inconvenience while we continue to look into this internally. Let me know if there's any questions in the meantime.

I have encountered a somewhat similar issue. Any items with non-alphanumeric characters in them do not show up in the Town Hall / Trade Union when you click the big + icon to equip an item. Item names containing characters such as . and : don't show up in the item list.

The workaround to drag and drop such items from trading post onto the Town Hall / Trade Union works though.
