What are Character Items doing?

Cant find any use for them, there seems to be no way to lets say equip them on my character nor show them anywhere to anyone.
So what do i do with them?

Read. They literally tell you where you can equip them and what they do. Hover your mouse over them.

yeah i think you should read properly.
As an introduction for someone who seems to still be stuck in the tutorial: character items have no description and you cant equip them anywhere.
What you mean are items for the municipal buildings or ships.
Thats not what im talking about.

I was specific:
Character Items

They literally are categorized as: Character Items
Their description says: Character Item

I got a glass of beer sitting in my inventory, saying: Character Item.
Also got a skull and other crap saying: Character Item
Specific enough?

As of now the only possible way i could imagine is maybe for expeditions. Probably i can take them with me and find unique uses during an expedition. But im not sure and couldnt test that yet.

yeah also had the rope in open beta. But i thought there will be a purpose in the full version (for engineers for example).

I believe those items are for expeditions. Every expedition needs certain items to fulfill certain needs. They'll probably fulfill a certain function on that expedition, like saving people you come across.

The weird thing is though, it doesnt provide any bonus (like + Naval or so).
But i imagine that if something happens i can use them for additional actions.

In my expedition a guy tried to get in a fight with my crewmen in a tavern as his drink was spilled over his boots, it might be that when i brought that beer character item i got, i could have had a third option that said something like "You hand him another beer" or so.

Regarding the rope, it might be useful in certain expedition situations, maybe.
I am going to try that now and send a ship equiped with a few.

Ok so, sadly i only had milk.
My other items were in open beta.
Game said it has no obvious use for me on ship but "you never know".
i still loaded it in. Wasted not an item slot but a cargo slot (which is kinda bad).
However, it might help when hunting animals. Maybe some like milk.
Also i had that guy selling horses on my last expedition. Maybe he would trade it in.

so i tried it and sadly i couldnt use it for anything yet.
However, i could use a normal ship equipment item ( ihave some sort of specialist equipped).
It gave me the option to use the specialist on a situation.
But character items no use as of now. Maybe i need more and try more often. Im sure it is linked to expeditions.
