The santissima vitoria quest help

Has anyone finished this quest? i visited all the islands on map and can't find the ship. Do i need to have Rod of the sceptre and Richardson log on the boat in order to finish the quest or it's ok to leave it in the port?

I am running into the same thing; checked all the islands in Cape Tre. but saw nothing

There is a tiny not colonizable island in the north-north-east of the map, with a small bay and broken canoes on it. Position your ship at the north of the beach (not in the bay). The detection will be automatic.
Have you read the captain log first?

I don't wish to spoil too much, so let me just say:

1. It's not on an island.

2. It's closer than you think.

3. You'll know it when you see it. If you think "well, that could be it", that's not it.
