Hoping this game is more like Anno 1503 A.D & 1404 Venice.
I Grew up playing Anno 1503 all the way back in 2003 when I was only 11 years old, and it's still my favorite Anno game of all time. I Really hope they are bringing back that opened world combat, being able to declare war & invade the islands of the AI was always a blast. I Enjoyed it in Anno 1404 but the way ground units worked was not as enjoyable as 1503, being able to move units without having to set up a camp made every battle turnout differently each time.

The combat in 2205 was cool, but limited inside of missions till a later update. To me what always got me returning to Anno was being able to set up my military then conquer the AI. Knowing each battle would be different, and being able to use tactics such as sending in units on horse back and luring their troops outside of their city walls into a trap was just so satisfying.

The city building itself has always been good throughout the history of the series, so I'm hoping that the military aspect of the series is going to be returning strong this time around. :D

The game will be more as Anno 1404 and 2070, BUT, it will have things from 2205 as well.

It will have a proper campaign, like 1404, 2070.

It will have 1 map, like in 1404 / 2070 (but with another one for the american zone, like in 2205, but the main zone will be like 1404)

It will have the biggest maps ever, from any of the games franchise.

It will have MP and many thrird party factions, like 1404 and 2070.

EDIT: It will have ONLY ship battles, but like in 1404/2070, NOT as in 2205

All of that sounds amazing, except for the lack of ground combat. I Miss being able to invade islands, and set buildings on fire, and take over their land. I wonder how you will be able to take over AI Controller land without invading on the ground. 2070 you had nukes, and air units.

They said that land combat wasn't a feature many wanted... like... 1/5? I think, in a big survey they did before starting 1800... so, they ditched it. They also ditched it because many players didn't want to build their city for hours on end, and then an AI just randomly declare war on them, and for them to lose their beutiful made cities... which I agree to a certain point.

Now, you have diplomacy, so, I think that, maybe, when ending a war, you might tell the AI you want X island for yourself... or, you might actually have to blocade a certain enemy island, and after a set period of time, because you are blocking them getting certain products (hint: island resources are back as in 1404 or 2070, so you can't have ALL seeds or mines on 1 island, you have to go to others also), the people get discontent, then ask for war to end and / or change sides... also, maaaybe there will be bribery as in 1404 Venice.

1404's land combat was ATROCIOUS. Good riddance.

Short answer. The Game is awesome - I playing the technical test an i love it. I´am playing Anno since 1603 and my fav is 1404. 2070 and 2205 where not the best but from what i can say now is, for me, Anno 1800 will be one of the best in the franchise

Here is ANOTHER great news:

1. Besides you will have a monument like in 1404 or 2070, you will also have 2 smaller big buildings, like the Museum and the Zoo

2. Go ahead to anno-union.com and the latest dev blog I think pretty much has a 8 minutes video of ACTUAL naval battles... and they look AWESOME!

EDIT: Also, even though you will have sessions, like in 2205, as in multiple sectors, you will ONLY have 2. Only 2, in a playthrow... the first one is the standard one, so a very big map, the biggest ever, with islands like 1404 and 2070 had. The other map / sector will be the South America region, which is a glorified version of the Arabs from 1404. BUT, because there are ONLY 2 sectors in total open, the switching between them will be instant. So, it will be like in 2205, real-time, if you switch a sector, then the other one will continue to exist and produce, etc... BUT, when you switch between the 2 big maps, there wont be a loading screen.

I wish there was no sector switching (my poor ocd does not like that hehe) but if this is the only major caveat in my optics ofc then so be it at least it sounds more managable than the latest Anno.

Thank you again!

Yep, this is pretty much the biggest caveat... think they didn't really wanted to make Anno 1404 version 2. As in having the South America lands with unique buildings places in the south of the map. But they said that if you are stubborned, you can just stay on the first map only, thought in the later stages it will be a bit difficult, because you will have to mostly trade for the exotic goods... but it's feasable somewhat.

Will it have ressources and stock like 1404 or flux like 2205 for production ?

iirc it will be like 1404, 2070... because you will have ACTUAL goods transport ships, AND, the factories send their products to the nearest warehouse, and if there are way too many factories linked to the same warehouse, then you will see BOTH a visual look of how the people are flocking and making a queue at the warehouse, but also you will not get the things until every one of the transports gets in.

Like 1404, goods will be in the gameworld and have to be moved around by cart pushers.
