How do you lay out your lumber buildings?
I get a little annoyed at the lumberjacks buildings in that I lose productivity / efficiency (whatever it might be) if they overlap, but took the plunge in my latest game and now place them on a dirt road and then another one right across the road from it.

I'm starting to think that a 30% hit might not be as big a deal as I had originally thought for the space saving of doing so.

How do you lay them out?

I don't know if I do it most efficiently, but my understanding is that the logs will go to the warehouse first before the lumberjacks, so I place a warehouse as close as possible to the log cutters without interferring in the percentage proximity. Then lay a lumberjack right next to the warehouse.I believe the warehouse is key.

Actually they can deliver directly to the sawmill, that's why for top efficiency you want to have the end product buildings as close as possible to the warehouse and the providing buildings to be further out but connected to the end-product building that requires them. All as close as possible of course.

For the sawmills I usually just place four, two on opposite ends of the warehouse and have the lumberjacks connected to those. It's okay if the production on them is not quite 100% , you'll still get more than enough wood. You can certainly get 100% with this layout but i'm a stickler when it comes to amount of space used so I try to squeeze them in as close as I can without affecting it too much.

HA, I totally named everything wrong in my comment, when I say Lumberjacks, I mean sawmills, and the tree cutters of course are the lumberjacks. But yeah, I try to squeeze everything as close together as possible too.
