Bright Sands. Did you guys wipe the entire island and start rebuilding from scratch?

Wiped everything and start over with your own design usually.

Yeah I tried rebuilding what they had a few times but it was a bad idea, easier to just destroy what they have (except the harbor area keep that, especially the depots) and do your own thing.

Actually I'm thinking whether I continue the campaign map at all. With the campaign stuff everything is just messy (including my own main island). I think I actually will start a new open game without the campaign which btw. was not really great.

During the campaign I actually would've liked to kill the queen. She's an idiot and has lots of power...

Well if you get the dlc plus any extra content they release you have to assume it may continue or work better with the campaign but at that point it may be worth starting over.

As for the queen you can try making anne your ally and do her special quests for a bit of revenge.

I rebuilt Bright Sands. Far easier once you identify the ruins that are engineer residences (look on the southern ruined buildings that cost 8-8-10-8 resources to renovate). I renovated the entire eastern shore (guns and depots primarily), added fisheries to the northwestern and southern shores, built a residence grid in the south-central open area just south of the ruins, and then after upgrading to artisans (to have the bldgs to meet engineer needs), renovated a bunch of engineer buildings.

No, there is only the quest with getting 500 engineers on Bright Sands. I did destroy most of the industry and the investor buildings. On the coast I kept the depots, repair cranes cannons/guns. The rest went to the trash bin. It worked well. Tho there are lots of bugged tiles on Bright sands where I could not build anything on the besides trees.

Renovating up to engineers was easier as it was cheaper and I already had the items to support the engineers.

Wiped everything except the road layout around the great exhibition and down to the kontor, then rebuilt everything from there.
