Expedition events mechanics.
Could someone please explain to me how does the expedition events works?
I have ship filled to the roof with stuff I supposedly need, morale at 100% and still my chances of success are usually only 10 or 20%, is that normal?

some products or items granting higher chances

Supply wood, food, and medicine ( I myself have not seen meds in game, so do not know what counts ). A 4 slot cargo hold can also carry hunters ( again, no clue who they are ). The wood and food were the most needed. Supply them extra rations after a morale degrading. Most tasks I came across were very low as well, but I was still able to press on and make it to the new world in several game starts. Good luck Captain :)
edit: several game starts of my choosing, not to conquer expedition, in case that wasn't clear.

if you look into your items or (in the expedition planning screen on goods) you can see their expedition bonus. it's the bonus added to the rolls during the events in expeditions.

Ships also have stats, which you can see in the shipyard.

This shows you yourself don't quite understand if anything.

Alright so here's what you want to do to get the best chances. First off look at the requirements and based on that choose your ship. Naval power a thing? Send a frigate or even better, a ship of the line. Those two ships will give you the best naval power base percentage (at least until late game, but those steam warships are really expensive)

Doesn't have naval power as one of the likely encounters? Go with a clipper if possible or some other non-combat vessel that has a lot of slots and navigation.

That out of the way; mouse over the goods that you want to bring to see how much percentage they would increase your chances. Mind you these are not the ultimate thing you can bring, that's instead items and specialists. Look at specialists and items by mousing over them and you'll see what they would be worth on an expedition, some can add like 25 or 30 or even higher. This is where you'll get by far the most % increase success chance. If you have pirates go fight some of their ships, chances are you'll get lucky and find a real good item for force and naval power to further up your chances on those particular expeditions. Other than that, you can buy items from the npcs or acquire them in other ways.

A very good ration to bring I find is schnapps because it doubles up as medicine as well as a rations, this is handy always just in case you encounter something that needs a medicine check. Keep an eye out for any faith items or specialists, there's barely anything in goods to buff that one. Other than that you'll want items or specialists for force, diplomacy, crafting and hunting. Try and get the specialists of rare quality, those usually buff two things for a good amount.

Thanks for the deep explanation. I probably should have forfeited my comment above, as I have only been on a few expeditions and seems wood and food helped me along. Your indepth comment explains much more, and now I also know Schnaaps seconds as medicine

Good explanation

If you have filled the ships with goods that checks all out but morale is still about 50 %.
Equip a specialist then it will raise to 100.
You can put a non ship specialist but he lands in the cargo and not in lower slots.
but they also add to morale alot.

I had 4 expeditions that fail and sink now althoughg i had all i needed and 100 morale.

I cant explain how much i hate this expeditions. Not the travel it self but the useless captains that always cry for help. i am so sick and tired of them. That i quited the game and wait for coop so my wife can take care of that bloody RP that is in the game.

Cya around Ubi ill be back when coop is in place.

Is there a page that lists all the items and their effects on expeditions? That would be great...

I find the expeditions quite annoying in that you have to cargo up to have a chance of success but you get rewards that take up an entire "cargo" unit and have to decide to keep your cargo to help in success or toss overboard the reward which is a "specialist - 1 person" or a relic or similar.

They need expedition reward slots. 1 relic or 1 specialist should not take the same space as 50T of wood or Schnapps

Yeah it'd be nice if it was just added to the rewards at the end of the expedition.
