confused with resources
so first anno game, played many games like it, but first anno. the resources seem a little odd to me

for an example, the wool and uniforms, i was looking at my market and hovered over the bar and it said -1 for the uniforms. now my wool i am over producing for sure cuz i always have full wool. I place down 1 more uniform making place, and market still says -1. I fast forward thinking maybe it takes a little bit to update. Still -1, i place down another, still -1, i end up placing 5 more down, all have workers, but it still shows -1. If -1 doesnt mean i needed 1 more of the uniform places, then what the heck does it mean?

Seems like i have to put down 30 houses to stay in the positive with money when i build anything as well, i saw on some of the reviews for the other anno's that they are just "house building simulators" and i'm starting to feel that way. I feel like farms and producers using farm materials, are not giving enough resources for the amount of houses and stuff i have to build to offset it. For anyone that normally plays anno, is this how it is? is it bugged?

the base value for determining the correct amount of buildings per step in a chain is the cycle-time per product. for example, 2 wheat farms suite 1 mill which suits again 2 bakeries. Or 1 iron mine suits 2 ovens suits 3 steel factories. It is thus crucial to optimize delivery times to get close to such numbers.

what might help are online calculators like https://nihoel.github.io/Anno1800Calculator/ which usually help a lot by determining certain amounts, in case you don't want to figure out yourself.

you will also later on not only get money through pure rent, but from tourists as well as by satisfying stuff on the happiness tabs in the houses

As far as I can tell, the numbers when you hover over a good are an average of the change over the last X minutes (not sure how big the X is). I only use this (and the red/green arrows) as a general guideline.

To make sure your resource chains are efficient, look at the times when you hover over the buildings and calculate the ratio between them. Logging camps produce 1 ton of logs every 30 seconds. Sawmills produce 1 ton of planks every 30 seconds. Logging Camp --> Sawmill is therefore 1:1

You can check out this image (below) for production ratios. Make sure your chains always have these ratios and you'll never have waste (except at the end, if you are producing more than you need, in which case you can sell those final products).
