I got this warning sign above....
.....my warehouse, when I hover my mouse above it , it says that loading is delayed due to the traffic or something. Does it mean that I need to build new warehouse next to it? Will it not look daft? I have near that warehouse 3 sheep farms, 3 pig farms, sausage factory, brewery and something else. So do you usually build more than one warehouse in such densly industrialized area? Thanks.

upgrade it

You can upgrade it, or place a second one somewhere close to increase the number of carriages.

Thanks. So it wont look daft to have two near each other.

You shall upgrade. But instead of building 2 or more warehouses so close you can spread out production over island. so you have about 2 operating cranes on each warehouse instead of 1 with 4 cranes working.

I can't seem to upgrade it though. It's a small warehouse, and I have a medium warehouse elsewhere so I know it's unlocked, but when I hover this warehouse in upgrade mode it just gives a red "X" with no info. Help?

Do you have the proper materials to upgrade it? I believe the medium warehouse requires just wood and bricks (and cash).

Early game it's better to build more warehouses instead of upgrading. Gives you more loading ramps for less money. Later, when production rates rise massively (electricity, fertilizer, tractors, items) you will need to fully upgrade warehouses AND build a lot of them. But money won't be an issue at that point anymore, unless you're doing something very wrong.

edit: I just looked up the wiki. A small warehouse costs 20 upkeep and has two ramps. The next one costs 50 upkeep and has only one more ramp. Next one costs 100 for only one ramp more. The biggest one costs 500 per minute and has two more than the last one. Only upgrade when you need to because of space restrictions or if money doesn't matter at all. You could build 25 small warehouses for the cost of one fully upgraded one and you would have 50 ramps instead of 6. Not practical of course because of space, but still good to know.
