charter routes
I tried making a charter route between two of my islands bringing beer, but there is no option to pick a ship for transport and when i activated the route nothing seem to happend. ended up using a regular trade route between my islands.

did i do something wrong or am i just to impatient?

Charter routes do not require you to choose a ship. Instead a tiny little automated ship spawns that goes between your chosen islands.

Personally, I like the normal trade route better because you can send more than 1 resource.

Charter means that you charter out the shipping job to someone else. in this case the AI.
It is used to have when you cant afford to create own ships.

Just the same but not your ship.

Thanks. one more question then. do charter routes risk the effect of getting looted during wars or is this a way to have a safe transport of goods through hostile terrain?

Yes they can. it is after all your goods. only in a neutral ship.

i think this is bugged in the betas my chartered ships didnt get taken down by enemy defenses, now they just suicide into them making them useless with hard ai, since youre at war 99% or the time with them anyways.
