New Island, with people
I just settled a new island, it's showing I already have 50 farmers, 50 workers, 50 artisans, etc., but I haven't built any houses at all. Is this something new or a bug?

I should mention it says I have 50 engineers, but I am only up to artisans on my main island, I have no engineers anywhere but here right now.

Because nobody answered yet, let me jump in: this is a feature, it can actually go higher to 100 or 150 free workers per new island, the reason is you leveled up something, I simply forgot what it was ;)

Well that's helpful then, being able to have them working without needing to level up houses maybe.

Both answeres above are correct (well except that it's 200 instead of 150 on the last perk :) )
If you click on your influencce (top left) you open the influence menu. If younavigate to page 2 on that menu you see perks that you get when you invested influence in one of the things mentioned on page 1. The expension tree gives you 50 people of every group on all your islands with the first perk.

Yes, they actually do. It's quite funny how you can get a thousand farmers without any living space for them later on. I guess they live on the farm. On the plus side, it really helps reducing slumification of islands for all those farm hands.
