Was I wrong about blueprints?
I got very excited about blueprints when I first heard they were in Anno 1800, but unless I'm missing something, it looks like I'm badly mistaken. In previous Annos, I'd find an efficient layout for some product. Four farms on the outskirts, four factories toward the middle, and a warehouse to service them all. But I'd have to have a picture of how I did it before and copy that. I was thinking that with this blueprint mode, I'd be able to copy an existing layout and paste it in the new spot. But it looks like blueprinting doesn't actually save you any work. It's just either if you run out of building materials or if you want to manually place the buildings one by one, but not actually build them.

Right?

It's just there to plan ahead, correct. No copy/pasting of complete layouts.

Ok, thanks.

I've already used it for pre-planning my production setups and I have to say it was quite some help not having to pay anything for it.

The game would require much less micromanagement and mouse clicking when the blueprint mode would allow you to import or copy paste multiple building blueprints. So much anoying time is spent by replicating layouts when you are expanding. It is only fun to tweak and puzzle with layouts when there is a need for it.
