As far as I know this is only possible in the Old World, but still it's great.
Later on, when you link the islands with a commuter pier, you'll be able to make your main island primarily Artisans, Engineers, and Investors while the farmers and workers are on another (or several) island.
2 clay pits on the main island produces 4 bricks/minute. You do have two brick factories per pit right (4 brick factories total).
You could also just buy them from Sir Archibald Blake.
