Sanctum lags on a Mac
Hey,

yesterday I bought Sanctum in the Steam online shop. Today I tried to play with a friend. After three or four waves my Mac became slower and slower and it became more and more difficult to play. I guess that the problem has something to do with the number of enemies or moving towers.
I have a fall 2009 iMac 27" with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB of RAM and a 512 MB graphic ship running OS X Mountain Lion.
I hope you have some tips for me, because the game is still great.

Sincerely yours,

Gregor

What video card do you have? If its a flat panel newer looking one then this game isnt going to work that good, sounds like your chips are heating up and when chips heat up they draw more power. Your powersupply may not be good enough... One of the reasons to get a Mac Pro or a PC

Hey Silly Rabbit,
I have an "ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB". I don´t think that my power-supply is so bad, other games or programs work fine.
Unfortunately the actual Mac Pro version is to old and I will never buy a PC again.

Hello!
Unfortunately Unreal Engine hashas performance issues with the Mac because it works very differently compared to the PC.
One thing that, surprisingly, demands a lot of power on the mac is the combat text. If you turn that off you can squeeze out a few extra fps.

Thank you for the fast answer, I will try the trick with the combat text immediately. Is there any possibility that the problem will be fixed?

I have now turn off the combat text and the game ran on lowest graphic settings without problems. Thank you for your hint.

We're going to try push Epic to help sort out the performance issues.

Did you try any other UE3 games on Mac? Would be interesting to hear how those run.

Best
Anton
