Immerse yourself in 8 hours of story from Michelle Clough, game writer and former narrative QA for the Mass Effect trilogy
Never heard of StarCraft? Riiiiight.
Explore Eden's beautiful vistas designed by Mai-Anh Tran, an artist who worked on movies such as WarCraft and Star Trek: Beyond
Never heard of StarCraft even though you worked on WarCraft? Riiiiiight.
Even her looks stand out way too much against her own allies which do have yellow tinted glow. She's the only one with blue glow.
Her hair is the same, name almost the same, armor structure almost the same, the covert background the same, StarCraft Nova also has an assault mode
It's not remotely possible this wasn't inspired from StarCraft.
Even the aircraft look like Banshees from StarCraft...
How on earth can you hire people that worked with Blizzard or WarCraft or on Mass Effect and never heard of StarCraft?
It's one thing to be inspired by something (totally cool in my book), but it's another pretending there is zero connection although it's literally just like the StarCraft Nova minus the stealth mode (possibly in this game as well, I don't know). To literally just clone Nova by accident and without inspiration... that's a very bold claim.
Anyways, reviews not even looking good. So apparently cloning the awesomeness of Nova or hiring other pro's that worked on Blizzard stuff or other big Sci-Fi franchises didn't help much.
I never played Starcraft beyond the first one, and that was about 19 years ago.
Don't presume to claim any similarities between this game and Starcraft's Nova, unless you want to concede that Samus ARAN came first, and this character has more than just the looks of one character. Hell, she has everything in common with Samus, from blue/green suit to freaking blonde hair.
Dress up Nina Williams in Samus's suit, and put her hair in a ponytail, and boom, she looks like Samus. It's literally a character architype. A blonde woman with a ponytail.
Paranoia is not a good thing in massive doses.
You have gone beyond what Mel Gibson's character in Conspiracy Theory is at.
I came into this game's forum to look at the discussions, and I never realized until I read these discussions that anyone could confuse this with Nova from Starcraft.
I thought to myself, "Reminds me of SAmus." when I saw her picture. Geez, when will people learn there is no reason to go straight to paranoia and claiming that it was ripped off someone else.
Someone could have worked on Warcraft and not worked on Starcraft, let alone newer Nova stuff. It's beyond insane to claim otherwise.
TL;DR You are a silly person.
Enough so that Monty Python said it best. "STop that, it's Silly."
this is fuclkken white genocide
It WAYYY more than that. It's the suit and the coloring of it. It's the rifle and how she's using it. That's like putting a white guy in red and blue spandex and putting an S on his chest and say, "that's just an archetypical white guy" lol.
As pointed out in numerous other threads, it's still an archtype. Believing in a paranoid conpsiracy theory that makes zero sense, and would get every single lawyer for this company DISBARRED from whatever country they are in, even the full entire United States, every state would disbar them.
You cannot legally claim a company would do something that is literally illegal, and their own lawyers would put a stop to!
Seriously, that's common sense.
Do you not know how lawyers work?
If any lawyer allowed them to do this, that lawyer would be in violation of several laws.
How can you recognize (acknowledge the existence, validity, or legality of) superman logo but not Nova's outfit?
I literally played Runescape for longer than I played Starcraft, and I played Runescape back in it's very early closed beta days in 2000 or 2001!
Claiming this has to be Starcraft Nova inspired insults Lawyers.
Now, I know they're lawyers, but really now, lawyers are not as dumb as you think, and would never in a million years let the company do this at all, if there was any evidence of this being a rip off of Nova.
Now, maybe, they were paradoxically inspired by Nova.
But two different people have created the same damn thing before thousands of miles apart without any damn knowledge of each other.
This is a Phenominon that dates back decades before DARPA created the grandfather of the Internet we use, ARPNET.
Hell if I know what it's called, but there's evidence of many instances of two people creating the same thing in different parts of the planet.
I'm pretty sure the Phenom predates the Combustion engine!
I don't care about harry potter. But me not caring isn't a legal excuse for ripping off that movie series
But I do know that you have zero evidence to support the idea that the devs are ripping off Nova based on their own evidence, and the fact that BLIZZARD HASN"T SUED THEM!
Good lord, man, how slow do you think Blizzard/Activision's lawyers are!??! I'll give you a hint, they are not slow.
Also, for frick's sake, do people automatically have to assume maliciousness?
Seriously, that is beyond insane. No one does things maliciously like this. At all. Ever. It just isn't done! This isn't Limbo of the Lost!
Two people can create the same thing miles apart! Literally everyone knows this! Why don't you get that?!? I'm sorry for being frustrated, I just don't get why people have to assume Maliciousness.
In my book Nova is an awesome female protagonist and in many ways way better than other creations which felt totally out of place. Like why does Nora exist in the first place? Nova has solid lore, was very balanced inside the universe of largely male heroism warfare and her skillset matched the look - unlike for example the overkill looks of e.g. Overwatch characters.
There is no shame in getting inspired by her character at all.
Also, there have been other games which had assets that were ripped off of or inspired by other series - in many cases asset creation is outsourced and the original developer isn't even aware of the issue.
But having pros on your payroll that directly worked with Blizzard or other companies that are in direct competition with them and never having heard of StarCraft 2 lore is very unlikely and almost near to impossible.
On a sidenote: StarCraft lore is basically a rip off of Warhammer 40k lore (which they admitted as back then they wanted to make a deal with Games Workshop but back then they still believed they'd make more money selling tin, brushes and glue instead of making computer games so GW declined and Blizzard went on to create their spin offs (Warhammer = WarCraft, Warhammer 40k = StarCraft)).
I loved Starcraft for the fact they made Tyranids (Zerg) and Tau (Protoss) equal in terms of lore. With Warhammer you ALWAYS get the nasty space marines.
So yeah, the similarities are just overwhelming. In fact Nora looks more out of place then Nova which also indicated that it was the love for Nova which led to the birth of Nora. Nothing bad about it. Personally I bought the StarCraft II Nova campaign and loved it - sadly Blizzard will never make a full RPG about Nova or the Ghost experimental lore.
