Tiny Suggestion I.E. Player Character
I just wanted to start and say that I enjoyed playing the demo, I especially loved how the atmosphere was genuinely relaxing, and I am interested in seeing how the final game turns out.

My one suggestion would be to indicate to the player what the gender and pronouns the player character has before or during the process of giving their character a name. When I played the demo I decided to use my own name, so it was rather awkward to play the game and have NPCs call me “old man” and use “he/him” pronouns to address me. I had assumed that the barista character was meant to be a projection of myself where you could choose your name and gender (similar to the nameless player character in an RPG game or other visual novels like 2064: Read Only Memories :turing:), but playing the game gave me the impression that you have to play as a specific default gender.

Knowing about gender and/or pronoun options can make a huge difference for some gamers when we play games that provide some level of character creation (even if that just extends to choosing your name), so letting players know what they are getting into so that they can anticipate how they will navigate through the game could be really helpful.

I wish your team all the best in putting together your finished game, I hope it is as enjoyable as the demo was for me.

Thank you so much for your kind words. As for the barista's gender, there are some remnants of the early writing we haven't change and also the fact I'm not used to write gender neutral character in English. But we're aiming to make the barista gender neutral, or at least give an option at the beginning of the game, hopefully we can pull that off nicely.

Thank you for your response. The plan you have sounds good, and the fact that you're already thinking about how to write a gender neutral character, or some form of player choice, means there's a strong chance that you will be able to pull it off. :steamhappy: Once again, best of luck to you and the rest of the team!

I played the demo and I really liked it. Aside from the "gender option" mentioned here... I think it's a bit "cruel" (that's not the word, though) to be thrown into the barista role when I have no idea what components make for a green tea latte (honestly, aside from coffee with milk... I have no idea how other styles of coffees are made). I know we can experiment with the mixing - and the recipe "activates" in your recipe list after you make it and give it to the customer -, but it still a bit off putting when you don't have enough info or knowledge while trying to make the required brew.

To have two or three basic default recipes to start with in the game would be nice, in my opinion.

Overall, the game really delivers with the atmosphere and setting... I'm looking forward to the complete project. The best of lucks!!! =)

I noticed the game on Steam's gamescom page, and the demo hooked me, but I'd agree with this - being able to choose your main character's gender seems essential. The easiest option (in my opinion) would be to ask the player to choose the pronouns they want to be called by (maybe even allow custom input).

I would prefer an option instead of gender neutral, can't exactly point my finger on it, but I never liked how most of the text is writte or the characters react in such chases.

I mean as far as I remember it.
