What do I need to drive a car in 0.6?
Restored 4 tires, an engine, battery, filled up gas. Anything above 80% durability. How do I start and drive the car?

Make sure you're trying to start the right vehicle (red truck, white suv, atv.)

Get in (F)
Start (E)

It must be on of the vehicles that can be repaired and not a scrapper for parts vehicle. No CAR can be driven. Like Skeleton said, BRIGHT Red pickup. White SUV (and atv).
Broken windows or rust, NOT a repair/usable vehicle.
IF it can be repaired, when you enter the vehicle you will get a mini screen showing vehicle stats and tell you to press e to start/stop.

Thanks. Great. Installed all into a scrap vehicle. After reloading the game everything is gone. Lost the engine and the battery :-(

If interested, you can use the debug menu to spawn in new parts to replace what you lost.

+++ on your keypad brings up debug menu.

You can tell the right trucks/sev - they have 0 gas in them, sounds like engine running / the display is all lit up when in driver's seat.

There are several ways to tell if you can repair the vehicle even before entering.
1) Rusted out, no good.
2) Broken windows, no good.
3) sitting on the ground/falls to the ground when you get near, no good.
4) doors already open, no good.

Before you start building it up.
if you get in the vehicle, a repairable one will have a whole sub screen open showing vehicle status (Engine, battery, gas, all 4 wheels) a sub menu for starting/stopping engine, turning lights on or off and the Tach/speedometer.

I just wasted my time fixing a car then, seems like they could have made them drivable if you can put parts in them

I wish you could but it would be very difficult, no vehicles could have a respawn, each one would have to be a full memory of parts when the game was created. So if you break down a vehicle once, it would be gone forever in the game. Once you pull fuel out, no move fuel, If you game has a bad spawn, you may not find all the parts you need.
I do wish that some of the others could be fixed, but I would then want a way to remove rust, and fix glass also.

and the only way to get parts off of them, would be to have interaction screen so on or off. Perhaps that could change later on. but not yet.
