(love this game)
But that was only due because i got tired of the constant rebuilding we would had to endure during the beta testing ..
i wanted to spread out and build other places at that time ..
But the constant rebuilding and starting over took it's toll ..
you have an opportunity to continue your build now with this stable version ..
i say stay and continue your build ..
~Hope that helps
When Rati goes through these map changes, he also kinda lets you know what's about to be added/changed. First of all, there are the empty buildings in zone 0 that I am sure will be occupied sooner or later. So I barricade them in a away that will make crazy easy to clear out when the time comes.
Secondly, I make a satellite base close to the tunnel that will lead to zone 1 and pack it full of supplies so that I can more easily transport said materials to the new area and get building straight away instead of having to scramble and waste time putting together those materials. Get an idea for what you want to build (in the new area) in order to get quickly established and before you know it, you are off and running and not wasting so much time strategizing what/where you want to build/do. Get supplies for things like water purifier, storage, food/drink, shelter (if you build your own of course), weapons and tools. Boom, off and running. If there were trees at least in zone 1, I would build a treebase and have all that material already there. Maybe I will build something there anyway just on the other side of the tunnel in an area I think won't be occupied.
@47 hours over the last week I am kind of in the same situation.
I've looted the entire Map and since there in no respawn of loot or resources other than ore and gasoline there is no reason to go out exploring other than to get ore from the mine and hunt bear, bandits or infected.
I like the building, but after building a perimeter wall halfway around the WH I realized it caused bad framerate drops so I tore the whole thing down and just kept a sniping tower to shoot infected during a Mist.
Bugs arent bothering me too much as I know how to avoid many of the ones I have encountered.
I realize the content is a bit sparse since the move from UE4 to UE5 and I'm hoping for a fairly large content patch coming soon.
Bigger map which includes:
More than one mine. More stores to loot. Bigger stores like a Walmart and allow us to enter ALL BUILDINGS without having to "chair cheat" our way into them. An actual city larger than two blocks. A map more like the size and variety of the FALLOUT series.
Loot.
More items to loot and more to do with those items in crafting. Food is an issue in this game. Give us the freedom to create our own dishes instead of only the two soup options. The beef stew which has BROCCOLI, which you can't even find or grow!? Come on man... stop playing. Cooking is like number 1 priority aside from water in any survival game. And eating grown veg by themselves offers almost no satiation. Sorry but, I'm not eating 6 or 7 pieces of corn and carrots or whatever at a time. We have better things to do!
Hunting.
We need more critters to kill. The map feels so empty and lifeless. And better traps too would be a major plus.
Crafting.
Where's the crafting? One of my favorite games to craft in, still to this day is Stranded Deep. It felt real. And the item requirements ftmp were logical. And don't even get me started on the degradation of items and their requirements for repair. Because that too is all very unbalanced in this game. We need more to craft. The furniture to craft is sparse. Why not let us build shelving? Even a game as old as Skyrim let me build shelving and would auto manage my loot.
Power.
Why is everything being powered by a finite resource such as gasoline? Why are there no options for wind, solar, or water power etc? Having power options would open up so MUCH MORE crafting ideas! We would also now have a use for all the glass, metal and batteries we scavenge! He would have to add more electrical components such as wires and fuses and such. But totally doable. Maybe let us smelt all of the metal we scavenge ingots too. Why not?
Better Construction.
Many pieces refuse to snap to each other and not enough pieces offered. And what is offered for pre-built cabins, they are too small or just have an odd layout. And where can I find stairs in the menu? And why does the smallest cabin take the longest to build? Are we all being trolled? Is this guy purposefully making his game unbalanced?
In conclusion:
I feel like the developer is directionless. I could be wrong? I am new to this game after all. I can only base that on what I read others say and request. Possibly he needs help from others to see this project through? But as long as he is building this solo, I'm unsure about it. We'll see after his next major update one the map is finished. Hopefully I am surprised.
Here are a few games that could inspire him based on NPCs, mechanics, leveling system, hunting and crafting:
-Stranded Deep
-Green Hell
-Medieval Dynasty
-Fallout 3-4
-Skyrim
I still play but I think I need to limit it to a couple hours every other day.
I would LOVE TO HEAR IT. Choose your words carefully, and try not to be too rude about it. Then you should be able to bypass the censoring.
Maps: I will be glad to see both maps back. This is set in a country setting so not much you can do for a "city" or a real town. That would be 50+ houses and a couple shops/stores. If this game had a big crew they could make a much bigger map to explore with lots of little camps.
Food: way messed up. Some food in intended to be eaten raw. Grapes, Apples, Tomatoes. Someone said the mist causes this to be dangerous, but there is not lore in the game to even come close to suggesting this. The only lore we have. Mist affects HUMANS. that is all. If we are going to have raw food, then let us eat it. or at a minimum wash it to make it safe. I mean we should be that smart in the game.
Food prep. Allow actual smoking of meat, that should stretch out the time it lasts to at a minimum a month. if done properly several months. Fruits and veggies, allow "canning" and "pickling" to allow them to last a month. Heck my grandmother had home canned foods that we were eating 10 years after they were made.
When sleeping, the body does not use energy at the same rate. it drops off to nearly nothing. I don't go to sleep a bit hungry and wake up starved. I go to sleep a bit hungry and wake up a bit hungry.
Allow us to fix the fridge in the houses so they work with the house generators. It's a waste of resources to ONLY get lights out of the house generators.
The most fun I had so far was the Motel. And I'm glad I saved that location for later in my playtime. Scavenging all of the suit cases, stealing the nice lamps, furniture and plants made the frustrations there all worth it. The "bloat boss" can be avoided altogether. No reason to kill it because you get NOTHING for it.
And having to use a chair to cheat my way through the doors into the rooms was silly. You have the location, so GIVE US THE KEY CARD. It SHOULD have been located somewhere behind the front desk, OR in the office behind that the lobby which is accessed from outside.
But please, stop adding useless "BOSSES" that add nothing other than padding your game trailers!
And I am convinced now that the crafting is so jank on purpose! It forces you to have to keep playing. More hours played = more spotlight on this trashy game. Tbh, games like this only add to the misleading practices of game developers today which only adds to the DISTRUST of your player base. I'm not going to kiss this Rati guy's tukus like the rest of you!
I keep it real, I keep it 100 - 100% OF THE TIME. Hate me if you have to, but you all know I'm right!
Bear/deer meat should produce much more than it does if we are using real life results. That's an argument I am not getting into. I still don't understand the complaints about how much you need to eat though. If done right, twice in a 24hr period is just fine. It's already so plentiful, so why the gripes? Besides, a (proper working) fridge, canning, freezing option would be needed if you were to harvest 110+ pounds of meat for 1 person.
Veggies/fruits should be able to be eaten raw without issue, but as I have theorized before, the tainted water/rainfall is why it needs to be cooked. Of course being able to wash the them could be an easier solution/option too. Possibly more combined dish options would be nice, but then again, I never make soups because of how the drops/gardening is currently implemented. Canning is certainly a viable option as I am sure I'd do the same if I were in that situation. Give a new reason to collect salt.
Power isn't that bad, but to be more realistic, it would be better to have solar/wind/water power options cause gas ain't gonna respawn like it does in this game.
Sleeping does seem to be a bit off and the starvation/dehydration doesn't bother me in the slightest. Again, plenty of food/water mitigates that necessity.
Existing items should be interactive. Fridge should be repairable. Clutter should be able to be removed or destroyed for materials. Rati is getting better about making more items interactive, so hopefully he makes this better going forward.
