How do you know where you are on the map ?

Started a new game after waiting for this stable update ..

Map looks good just can't tell where i spawned in ..

i think it's near saw mill area ..

also how do you use the 'Event' notification ?

If it has a hitch it is for the ATV, if it is a wooden cart stand at the handle area and press "E" to engage it. As said above, if you hear a crash check it out, also if you happen to have a red fuel can, siphon the fuel from the vehicle before breaking it down. If the survivor has items you need if you keep hitting trade after each deal sometimes his inventory doubles, triples etc.

If you can make your way back to your start tent, if you stand in front of the tent with the shops to your left. turn and start walking in the direction of the shops. you will find a wooden hand cart in the woods about 100 feet away from the tent. You can stack items you find in it. Boxes, tires, and engine.

If you bring up your map (k) scroll it down, Your start position was South of the sawmill on the Southside of the main road. To the left (East) are 2 buildings, shop and cafe. A little further East is a gas station with a red truck in it. That is the truck that can be fixed and driven. The SUV at the sawmill is the other car that can be repaired. Do not try to fix any vehicle with broken windshield/rusted out, those are for parts only, if you put parts on it and exit the game, or leave the area, the parts will be lost.

It's a little shack ..
There's a power plant there with a crashed car in front of it ..

can't make heads or tells where i'm at ..

Seems like you are just North of the sawmill, if that helps. The red truck is one of the ones that can be repaired.

Oh, I think I know that shack, Yea, that one is secure, but yea, nothing right there. A small house down the road, a big enemy base up the hill. Yes, the powerplant has one of the other red trucks you can use. That is an odd start point. I know it is out there, but so far out of the way if you don't start at that location, its not likely it will be found normally.

The lower orienteering guide is specifically for finding out your current location and compass directions in any situation, regardless of not having a compass or pencils.
