Enemies in the mist
Hi all, first time poster.

When i started the game, I considered the mist fairly dangerous as the infected would be loitering all over the place and i'd go outside with caution. Was really cool..

Now i'm on day 10, no enemies spawn in the fog for some reason. Anyone else experience this?

Side note but still on the topic of enemies; is your base ever attacked? I'm not feeling threatened at all in the game which is really disappointing. Day time is equally as dangerous as night time which is... not dangerous at all :/

Your Base only starts getting attacked after you start defeating the Bandits around. At least, that's how it was for me in 0.5.2. On Live with 0.6.0 I haven't seen this happen but I've been doing other POI's 1st and just recently (1 day ago game time) did I wipe the big Bandit Camp up in the forest. I imagine they'll start sending 2-3 dudes anytime now.

Also, this is only valid if you've "set this as your Base" for your Base. If like me, your Base is White House and say you're out building a whole new Base somewhere else but haven't built anything like a lean-to that you can claim as home, then they won't attack you at all, at the new place.

Things were different in earlier versions. You couldn't sleep through the fog, and there were always zombies attacking around the base. but in version 0.6 you can't see any of it at all. you can sleep comfortably without being woken up.
I would also think it would be better if there were more zombies in the fog, or if there were other enemies walking around on normal streets.

and the respawn of the enemies would have to be set, possibly also higher loot. Firstly, bandits spawn too quickly or when reloading. which automatically leads to a shortage of ammunition. Personally, I would like it if the respawn was linked to days
Bandits patrolling the streets would be great
If I have built a secure base then I should be able to sleep through the night. Now, if I am sleeping on the ground, or in a unsecured house, then yeah, I can see getting woke up. But getting woke up all the time while in my bed, in a building that is behind walls, was annoying af and I am glad that part is gone.

But I do agree that the mist doesn't bring the danger it used to. Back in the day you had that small window of time to get to safety and if you didn't you were screwed. I do miss that...

*And bandits patrolling the streets would be awesome.

A secure base is relative, the zombies used to tear down windows on the White House and climb into the house. that does not exist anymore. Zombies should also be attracted by light and noise at night. Bandits patrolling the entire streets and not just one area, so you never know where they are

I have a feeling that things are relatively benign and peaceful right now as Rati works on other things and let's players work out / report bugs. Whether or not they are fixed is a whole nother story.

Maybe he will also reintroduce the bandits as they were in .4 and before where they do wander around more and at least start walking towards your active base.

The climbing through windows thing was awesome. That was my first experience that left an impression on me a few years back. Now I have a base in the forest and the mist comes and they just stand a few hundred feet away.

I wish the dev would work on this in the next patch or so. We need to feel like there’s a threat for sure. The newer models and speed of them is nice though.

I AGREE .. This is Just a Peaceful taste of getting used to the Game ... BEFORE the Storm Breaks ... Remember this only the beginning stages and testing of EA.

They are random as far as I can tell .. But Not as Bad as it once was in the old version. If you go to the POI's they should be there .. "Try the Motel - but be cautious" U. R. warned.

And if you still don't see any ... then your game might be bugged and You might want to think about a restart ... I just did after 10 days .. items kept spawning in on me where I had removed them and it was getting to be a Pain in the Butt. (So I'm starting my own Base somewhere else, other then the white house.)

Just a few thoughts and hope it might help. Enjoy and have a good one.

Yes, i Am on 0.6.0.2.2 and i'm really new to the game as a whole, so this is the first version I have ever played. What has prompted me to ask the community the questions I did is because I have seen on YouTube things that I have not been experiencing so it's given me a point of reference.

I spawned just outside the sawmill. My home-base is currently set as the white house and yea, I don't get bothered there what so ever. I've taken out a number of bandit camps and defeated the green toxic spewing bloater enemies at the school and the motel. Nothing is a challenge for me now, so... as much as I don't want to say this as i wish it wasn't true but nothing is a challenge any more and have little to no incentive to worry about my ammo or structural defences. I can run around at night time, in the mist, there are just no dangers. When I attack a bandit camp I need to be careful, sure, but its all over in a matter of a minute. I'm now bored :(

I really enjoyed what I have played and from what you guys have explained that its a "peaceful taste of getting used to the game". i look forward to the changes in the future. For now, there isnt anything for me to do which is a shame.

Uh, the game came out in EA 5 years ago. It's not remotely "the beginning stages and testing of EA." The only 'new' thing is 0.6.0 hitting the Live/Default Branch. We're going to be getting a new Zone 1 soonish so that's cool.

Yes, development has been a bit slow lately.
I suspect it was simply due to the switch from Unreal engine 4 to Unreal engine 5.

I think there's definitely more to come, but I think the developer has to familiarize himself with UE5 first. so just wait and see

Reporting the same as op. Purchased and Played on the 0.5 branch and did not experience this issue. 0.5 was a blast to play and I enjoyed 0.6 for a little while until I noticed this issue. Once things become "peaceful," you can literally build any cabin straight through mists/nights w/o worry. The only threats in the wild ever are bears. I haven't seen any wolfs, but I've also not crossed the tunnel, as I read somewhere that side of the map isn't finished yet. It's kinda disappointing, and I agree with op; it does make it boring after a bit.

I'll keep playing as updates roll out but I've heard this game has one developer. Assuming that's true you gotta be patient with these things. After all it's not like this game is being created by a major studio who has countless developers at their disposal.

I'm assuming issues like this will be corrected eventually, and I like where the game is headed! I look forward to future updates.
Geauxboy Dec 14, 2023 @ 11:01am
This game has gone through many iterations, so I find other things to do as I bide my time waiting for a new update that adds a good bit of new things to do. One of those things is to clear out a bandit camp and then wall it up so they are contained/corralled in a way that renders them either harmless or easily dealt with in the future. You will thank yourself later especially where snipers are concerned.
YumboYack Dec 14, 2023 @ 11:36am
Also on latest version and agree, there are far far less infected and certainly not as strong as earlier iterations. In earlier versions, this was my main source o green components and salt, now its hard to find both of those.

No, other than the NPC's durability comparison, they are completely different unit types.
DeLindsay Dec 14, 2023 @ 10:47pm
@Boots Not certain why you replied with my comment, which is correct. The Bloaters in the Last of Us are NOTHING like The Bloat in Mist Survival, other than how durable they are (tanky).
