Survival for vegetarians
We already got carrots, potatoes and apples. Can't we plant them?
I want an apple tree in my base!
Thanks :)

Being a vegetarian can be dangerous : I ate freshly harvested tomatoes and I was poisoned, ppffff... plus they give almost nothing in stats. :-/
It would be nice to be able to grow the vegetables needed to cook meals because the ones we find degrade so quickly that we never have all the necessary ingredients at the same time. And integrating other recipes in the future would also be interesting, two is not much.
Seriously? Geeze.
No survival for vegetarians! Go omnivore or go away! The zombies were the vegetarians in this scenario.
LOL
Will you let your character eat the candy bars or the sodas?
This is a fun post, not meant to 'trigger' anyone. If you're triggered, oh my God, I just don't know what to say. Grow a spine.
But I'd like to grow apple trees, for sure. And potatoes and carrots and broccoli.
And veggies and fruits should give enough to live on without having to eat meat - though they are more likely to end up as a zombie...

Ever watched Alone? You won't make it as a vegetarian without supplements.

Vegetarian diet why not because it's an unrealistic video game

But in real life in an extreme situation, a vegetarian will have a lot of deficiency problems and will have less chance of survival than a person with an omnivorous diet.

An apple tree produces fruit one or two years or even three years depending on the species after being planted. But there are other parameters that prevent it from producing (disease, parasites, climate, etc. ...)

Based his diet only on a single dietary pattern in an extreme situation is suicide
The production of fruits and vegetables is not simple in non-sedentary primary lifestyles, it concerns above all sedentary people

Why do you think the nomadic tribes that still exist today mainly consume animal protein?
In an extreme alternative reality populated by zombies, a sedentary lifestyle would not be viable for very long and therefore the production of fruits and vegetables would be compromised because they would be constantly under attack from zombies, other warlike survivors but also by the fact of growth of their community

More people require more resources and in this kind of alternate reality in a totally destroyed and polluted environment (radioactivity, virus, polluted waters, etc. ...) I have a hard time imagining it

only nomadic omnivores and carnivores could potentially survive

Knowing that after a few years no more industrial foods would be consumable
So the menu for them would be wild fruits and vegetables depending on the season, meat from hunting, fish and shellfish, eggs found in nests, honey, human meat sporadically during periods of scarcity so as not to starve and avoided getting Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease too quickly

But in this alternative reality, no more "modern" humans could survive for long in reality, only primitive humans could survive because they are more adapted to this type of situation and it is not sure that they will succeed too.

but most would die of despair or suicide because they would no longer have access to the network for their iphones 😂🤣

I need two apples to give a survivor for quest but she is stubborn and wont take just 1 now and 1 later.
I'm having a seemingly impossible time finding two apples at the same time. by time I find a second apple the first one is long gone even from being in a refrigerator.

that being said to be able to get some apple seeds from an apple so I can't plant a tree and get 2 apples at the same time would be nice because this quest seems impossible otherwise.

I think this post is a little ironic for "vegetarian survivors" ... i could be wrong but I think it's more of a suggestion to improve the gameplay at the gardening level.

I support the concept of improving gardening/farming in the game.
I even asked if it's something I could mod in but doesn't look like this game is going to have mod support at least not as it currently stands from what I can tell.

Vegetarians in a post-apocalyptic survival world ? no they will all die for sure ^^'
What did you eat the first days ? i don't think it's possible for a vegetarian to survive a long time in this game...

They can survive because it's a game where nutritional value is not taken into account
I believe that on SCUM and DayZ the nutritional value of a food is taken into account
So here a vegetarian can survive by eating only plants and the map being very small, the gameplay still forces you to become sedentary
So building a garden and planting would be an added advantage.

yea i know they can, but my question was "how can they do that in the first days ?" (without knowing the location of the seeds that is).

You could be a pescatarian in this game though. I've done it several times.

You can survive on the fruit cans.

I saw a report how to survive only by eating fibers harvested behind the bark of trees, but it is not expected in MS! lol
