Survivors - Equipment and Weaponry

I have given Rachel; my first survivor I have found so far; a M4, 1 round for it for the infinite ammo, and a tactical helmet and Body armor. But I cant seem to equip the armor on her and she doesn't seem to equip it herself if I leave it in her inventory during attacks. How can I give her the armor? As I want to keep them safe to help support my base.

They don't need armor right now they are invincible, supposedly they do have hit points but from someone thats looked at the code they regen fast and I have never seen them actually die, they can disappear but thats a bug and you have to rescue them again, normally happens for me when I go to new area but can happen if you use the prebuilt cabin behind the motel often. Take the body armor off your survivor and use it yourself or store for later, only a very limited amount of armor in game and we can't make it yet.

They can get stuck often but you can switch bases to another shelter and back to get them moving again, you can build a basic shelter behind your house just for those stuck moments.

Also don't park too close if you armed your survivors they can damage it when they are going guns blazing crazy.

only weapons and tools can be equipped at the moment, but it's highly recommended to not give them guns at this time, as they tend to shoot the crap out of your base and vehicles during mist events, many players have ended up without any engines for vehicles because of the rescued NPC's destroying their vehicle, which is not good with limited engines in game :)

Thanks I removed the armor an took your advice.

I do have another question that I cant seem to figure out. How can I learn to build walls for my base? I have a base thats PACKED with resources at this point over 11 lockers full maxed out. But I cant use any of it as I can only seem to build basic things. Where do I go to learn to build base defenses??
