Game playing tips
I didnt see anywhere posted for game playing tips so can this thread be one?
I'll start:
When making a barrel to hold 100L of water, make 2. One is then for your safe water and the other is for your dirty water.
Also, when you have made the distiller - do not put your nice clean water into it - use dirty water and you will still have good alchohol :)

Alrighty then... my turn:

- Use the pickup truck as your main car because you can transport suitcases, bags, water barels, lockers, workbenches, fridges. Pretty much every moveable object can fit in that truck. You might say it's not good when your a going to loot. Well you just load a few empty lockers in it and use them for storage as you loot and will be much more space than you have in the Jeep.

- Go out there and explore. You can find tons of free lockers on abandoned houses which will pretty much solve you storage problem at least for a while and save you tons of resources. You can also find workbenches, water barrels, tons of free tools (axes, hammers, saw, even crowbars or lockpicks).

- Put the survivors at work as much as possible. My boy Scott made thousands of sticks, arrows, bullets, planks, firewood, nails, pretty much everthing you can craft USING A WORK PLACE the AI can craft as well. The only things the cannot craft are things that are available on your craft menu when you open up your inventory.

- Never go looting without a crowbar unless you only plan to loot only cars, There are many rooms and houses that are locked and you cannot access them untill you break those locks with a crowbar or pick it with a pair of lockpics. You can use the lockpicks only once and after you picked a lock they will break that why you'll have to make yourself a nice crowbar that can be used as any other tool in this game.

- The water distiler can hold 16 litters of water, not only 10.

- Long bow can kill bandits, zombies and bears with one hit in the head from low and medium distances even if you are using basic wooden arrows.

- You can hit trees with sledgehammer to get leaves and branches.

- Campfires cannot be moved but if you destroy them you will get the same amount of materials needed to make a new one.

- Mining tip: Saving the game and reloading while in the mine will make the ore rocks respawn.

- Need to chop lots of trees but your stamina is messing with you? Build yourself a chair and rest on it a few minutes and you'll recover stamina much faster. You can move it as well.

- If you are going to the mine bring a mortar and pestyl with you. Can use it to craft powder to pass the time and recover stamina faster.

- You can sleep on the ground by pressing 7 on you keyboard.

- Sleeping in a bed or a sleeping bag will recover you Fatigue stat more quickly then sleeping on the ground.

- You can see Kate's tits :grinningpolice:

^Some of those guides are a bit outdated, my egg-loving friend :D Still, some like Maconijr's and Doctor Dentist's guides will continue to be relevant for a while.

As for a few tips of my own:

1. Build a water purifier ASAP. Dehydration is generally more of a problem than hunger.

2. When you acquire a pistol, don't use it on zombies. Use it to kill your first bear. Harvest at least two guts, the hide, and some meat if you like. Save your firearms for emergencies only and use the bow as your primary weapon.

3. Craft a lot of lashings/rope.

4. Mist events can only begin between 0830 and 1630. When exploring during those hours, keep an eye out for potential hiding places (e.g. water towers, abandoned cars) where you can wait out the event.

5. Don't engage Infected in melee combat.

6. Be very careful around the filling station, and especially so near the end of the road past it. There are snipers that can kill you in one shot.

I've found that the best way to deal with the snipers is to drive full speed down the road, then take cover behind the black shipping container. Kill any bandits that come your way, then peek around the corner and kill the sniper when he's visible.

7. Don't try to run over Infected, bears, bandits, or chickens with your car.

8. Kill Infected to get salt (occasionally). Use this salt (along with a knife) to dry bear meat on the drying rack (same one used for drying sinews for the bow). This will solve any food issues you may have.

- Hitting a tree with your knife will drop you tree bark.
- Hitting a tree with your sledgehammer will drop you branches and leaves
- You can use Saw Machine without having a generator (current version 0.2.4.1)
