So... will trees respawn at all?

Hi everyone,

Ever since I read that respawning trees after reloading have been fixed, I was worried about them not respawning at all. Has anyone tested that? Its fine if they do respawn every few days or so if that was his intention, just wanna make sure not to waste the wood I have rn you know.

Depends on your game it seems. Mine all seem to respawn with the latest update while other players do not have respawning trees. Just go out there and cut one down and see what you get.

Mine respawned it just took awhile.

on current play save i am on day 35 and not 1 tree has respawned what so ever i have stumps everywhere around my base that have not grown back at all, which i think is a bug :( as i am sure that they should only stop respawning if you chop out the stump aswell :)

what do you mean? the stumps have to be cut out for them to grow back??? because thats not how it used to work. from what i recall if you cut out the stumps in any survival game it stops tree's growing back and you leave the stump in place to get a tree to grow back so i'm confused lol

I've been cutting the stumps and those trees always grow back - it's probably opposite to what you expect just for the sake of you actually having cleared that tree spot so the new one can respawn there.

well thats no f****ing god lol i want stumps removed in places because i don't want a tree there lol i.e i want a building there so digging out the stump means tree will grow back... then that means buildnigs and walls are going to end up with tree's in them lol thanks for the info folks i will check it out next time i'm in game and lat you know my findings :)

Yeah I'd like some way to be able to actually clear an area as well. Maybe we could set fire to the stumps instead of chop them and that would make it so game wouldn't respawn the tree

:) it could just be left normal i.e what people are used to lol leave stump to grow back remove stump to get rid, as you have removed the root like in real nature if you cut down a tree over time new shoots will sprout from the stump, but if you kill off the stump or dig out the root the tree aint coming back lol

That would be most simple and easiest for the players. I thought maybe it was made like that because of how loot stays on the floor, so if the stump exists then the tree itself can't grow back because the space was occupied (but you're still left with the stump). Haven't tested leaving the stump in place for days to see if that actually does stop a new tree from growing though.

yeah its strange but i can confirm stumps i have left that i want to grow back (tried to build sustained woodland area nxt to base) are not growing back not 1 tree stump i left purposely has grown back at all some have been stumps for 40-50 days lol i never noticed on previous plays as i always used a cabin in heavy woodland so always had plenty of tree's but this play save i am doing a whitehouse build as i am trying out all the different base locations and close tree's are running out fast lol

Ok well chopping those stumps should make them grow back for you, it's how it works in my game. Good to know that leaving the stumps stops them from growing back - I need my trees!
