Bandits attacking base now?
In one of my games, I made my home base on top of the building in F4 which lies just over the mountain range from the bandit base close to the white house. While I was hunting down Scott again, I was approaching that base to clear it out in hopes of finding Scott. I did not find Scott because he has glitched out of that save completely, but that another story.

Anyway, as I approached the bandit camp, I noticed 2 of the bandits walking away from their camp and towards my base. I followed them to see where they were going. One got stuck on a ledge but the other made it over and was heading straight for my base.

If I didn't have the base fenced off partly from existing fencing and some chicken fence I installed to seal any entrance ways, I have to wonder if he would have attacked. I ended up shooting him before he got too far but I should have watched him to see what/where he would end up.

Anyone else experience bandits attacking your base yet? Before this update, I hadn't seen any bandits attacking my base.

I have seen in some videos that they just wonder off.
Watch ie viper1392000's videos, you will see bandits randomly wondering off to woods and so.
Maybe it was just a coincidence that they headed towards your base.
I do remember hearing someone saying that its a bug left from disabling bandit raids, they do start going on raids but then just stop.

The bandit camp by the highway, there's one guy who will leave camp. He always has left camp on a bee-line for my base. Tried various bases and this guy has left camp in 3 different directions depending on where my base is. At least I think it's because of where my base is, can't think of other reasons, and it's not random, haven't had him go the other direction from my base.

The bandit camp you're talking about, I've only ever seen the two guys go towards the highway. Once I saw one leave camp and head west, over the hill toward the military blockade. Never saw them leave and head east, though. Mind you, I've not had a base east of the white house, either.

I will declare that I did not play this game when the bandits were still raiding bases, so I hadn't experienced this before.

I have seen them walk towards the military base / white house and eventually disappear by the road, but this seemed quite different given that it was 2 guys walking the opposite direction which just happened to be towards my base. I'm gonna see if I can get them to do it again and will let them go to see what eventually happens.

The thing that makes this interesting is that my base seems to be far enough away from their camp that you would think that they would disappear well before they got there. We'll see.

Never tried it but duhgobling told me that if you keep in sight of the bandits when they take a walk they will go straight for your base, but if you lose sight of them they disappear back to bandit camp never tested it but seems legit. They walk to slow for me.

That's why I inserted an arrow into his temple. Ran out of patience.

I remember when I tailed them when they walked away towards the military base / white house. They disappeared even when I was about 50ish feet behind them. Maybe because their back was to me and that counted as "losing sight" in their minds.

I kept the bandit that got all the way to my base at his 9 o'clock until he eventually fell down the cliff side, so I am not sure about any of this yet.

What happened to him after he fell down the cliff? Did he despawn, die, continue walking?

Continued walking along the fence and I assume looking for an opening which I had fenced off already.

They don't die no matter how far they fall btw.

Yeah, tried to kill them by making them fall off a 3 storey high structure. They just kept walking like nothing happened. That same fall killed me instantly :steamhappy:

Ive never had bandits at my base in 230h of play, im feeling all left out now :(

I had bandits many times wondering at my base, and be careful they will open fire if they see you. Many times i came back from searching/hunting and they were at my base. But its not problem, and this will often happen when you attack banidt camps.

The only time i have ever seen the bandits is when ive attacked them or driven past their place, never in about 30 restarts have i ever been attacked

Am getting annoyed by the truck flipping tho, tried parking in the shelter outside the white house and yea it was on the roof when i quit :)

THEY'RE HERE!

I just got 3 bandits hanging out by my walled perimeter. I saw the "eye" icon when I was inside cooking meat and the eye kept popping up. Thinking it was a glitch I walked out back (of the white house) and there was the eye again. It was a bandit by a chicken fence gate. Bust a cap in him and then saw another bandit at another gate. He went down too, but then as I was looking for more, I saw one running away.

About 1 game hour later, I see another bandit approaching. Gonna hang out in a tower tonight to see if I get anymore action. The thing is that I haven't yet to attack the big bandit base (where they are coming from and running (lol) to.

Think I need to way in on this :) Bandits raiding your home camps was removed from the game way back in release 0.1.8.x :) (revenge attacks)

If you want to play with bandit raids you need to play releases older than that i.e I play 0.1.7.2 a lot (this to me is the best version of the game for maintaining game play momentum) as everything has to be fought hard to earn or survive :)

If you have built your base anywhere other than the city then any bandits that find your camp is purely accidental :) (when bandits raid camps they don't just wonder around the fences they kick your door in guns blazing lol)

For those of you that want bandit raids (of sorts) in current releases the only way is to build your base in or around the city area.
This will bring bandits in and around your camp and they will attack if they see you :) but again this is accidental and not deliberate, they just stumble on your base whilst patrolling the city.

Until the good captain announces that the bandit (revenge attacks) or re-instated Then there is no real need to worry about bandits :) Those of you that may be concerned over not getting bandits at your camp worrying about a bug :) don't worry the mechanic is just not implemented anymore :)

Thanks for that detailed explanation of how the game mechanics are in it's current state.

I did not play this game prior to the new map which took away bandit raids, but did see some vids on it, so I have an idea of what it was like and how they (re)acted. I just seem to be the only one that is having this happen and on two different newer saves.

I stayed in a perch all night, but no more visitors. I am ready for when I start the game up tonight and that they may start coming over to my base again. I was REALLY curious to raid the base after that visit to see if there were 4 less bandits at the base, but it was almost 8pm, so I would not have had enough time before the night infected come out.

I built a small cabin behind the white house the next morning to do 2 things. 1). to have Scott chop down all the trees so I have a clear view of the area and 2) to possibly use the cabin to either entice or attract the bandits to it instead of my base. I even have the cabin door facing me so I can pick em off easier (if they ever come back).

:) I have a save where I built a base right outside the big bandit camp :) same thing every time unless they actually see me they pay no attention what so ever to it :)

I can make them see me and come towards the camp, then hide and they just go back to their respective paths.
There's still a few of us about that have been playing since launch and many of us miss the unexpected bandit visits, they where real heart attack moments sometimes lol and gave the game a real nervous edge when playing :) as in always checking over your shoulder when doing anything :D
The plan is for the revenge attacks to be returned when the captain sorts the bugs with it (ai path finding mainly) :) but when that will be who knows lol
