How do you board up windows?

You can repair windows barricade (red icon) that's all, you can't put barricade in every windows you see.

Livestock fences. Put those in the windows.

Infected used to be able to break the boards, but not the chicken fences. As far as I can tell, that is still the same, so yes, put chicken fences in your windows and chicken gates in your doorways.

Only windows that show a red shield like symbol floating in the window can be barricaded. Without that symbol you will never get the message popup to press f with boards, nails, and a hammer in your inventory slots. And yes, as another poster also said, Do use livestock fencing in your windows instead. Unless you just like to constantly replace boards and nails? But, hey, you be you. Its your game.

Actually, the chicken fence wasn't supposed to be used to fence CHICKENS? Since they were supposed to be a very weak type of wall ? This is outrageous! imagine Project Zomboid or 7 Days to Die with chicken fences instead of boards barricades.

"Ounn, but the chicken fences and doors are more effective"

That's not the point here! There is so much content, but no proper barricades yet?
