The problem with constructing new traps after they become useless is that duct tape is surprisingly rare! You'd think that this staple of survivalism and DIY, that wondrous adhesive that holds the very universe together would be a bit more common. By Day 67, I had only found a grand total of four duct tape rolls. By contrast, I have 4 SWAT helmets, 3 ballistic vests, 3 pairs of boots (all self-found, not crafted), 4 pistols, 6 shotguns, and 5 M4 carbines. Nearly all of the guns were found simply by scavenging and exploration, rather than by killing bandits (who sometimes drop their weapons upon death).
If anything, duct tape should be treated as a multi-use item, with durability like any other tool. That might help balance out its rarity a bit.
