How to treat a wound?
What are the steps to treat a serious wound or one that needs treatment? I have figure most of every else out. Not this.
I carry 3 bandages when I go out scavenging, so I am prepared. When I get the screen on the right side that reads wound treatment needed, I go to inventory and I think right click on the bandage. Then a option screen opens and one option is to push #3 “treatment". Nothing seems to happen the wound status doesn’t change and after fumbling around for a minute, I die.
What is the correct order of steps to take and or system for treating a wound?

If you have bleeding you need to bandage the bleeding wound or you'll bleed out and die. Just go to your status screen, click the wound and on the right side is a photo of bandage. Click on it and apply it. If you have an arm or leg injury just wait it out and don't over exert yourself by running or chopping trees too much. Watch the "damage" meter on the right side when do these things with an injury. It will slowly fill up the injury photo.

For injured limbs, you can only use bandages when the icon doesn't show a green rag tied around the limb, as this indicates that the current stage is being treated. Limb injuries seem to recover over several stages, and applying bandages speeds up recovery from one stage to another. Note that leg injuries are typically more dangerous than arm injuries, as the former will slow you down greatly and prevent running from unfriendly locals.

As MrBall indicated above, prioritise treating haemorrhages ASAP. However, if you are bleeding and don't have a bandage, try doing the following:

- Drop all your valuable items (i.e. anything that you care about losing) on a flat surface when your health starts getting low.
- Mark your location by putting up a tall structure (go into the build menu, and click on a lamppost or wooden fence, and place down the blueprint at the location when you dropped your items).

This way, when you do die and revive, you can easily go back to pick up all your stuff at a convenient time. The large green construction beacon will make it easier to find the spot, although be sure to use local landmarks as well!

Of course, the best option is to avoid getting injured in the first place. SWAT armour (helmet and vests) can be found at the top of some water towers (e.g. the pair near the motel usually has some) and will greatly reduce the chance of injury from gunshots and melee attacks. However, the armour does tend to degrade quickly when taking damage.

Thanks for the help. I figured it out and finally did not die before treatment was applied. There is a 3 or 4 step process. I wasn't clicking on the injured body part in the status screen. Do that and the bandage slots appear. Got it.
