CONFIRMED Zombies spawn INSIDE walled area
Just built up a new base at the white house, mainly because I wanted to play with the new wooden floors & towers. Built up a really nice compound completely surrounded by high wooden walls with a separate drive-through area where I could park vehicles. All gates were also behind chicken fences so I can assign survivors to the location without them opening up gates.

So when I finally completed the last wall I was SHOCKED to find zombies wandering around inside the next night!

Set out to confirm. Locked everything up tight and sat around watching for zombies as it got later. At 21:28 suddenly zombies spawned WELL INSIDE the walls. Quite a few, at least 5-8 of them were inside. This is not okay, all that effort and the compound is useless.

Its not excessively large either. The walls go out just slightly further the playground equipment and the water tower then come back in closer and go around the garage & metal shade structure.
They go out a little but further than where the wheelbarrow and crates are in front where there is a chicken fence that completely separates the inner compound from a drive-through walled off parking area. That seems like a reasonable size area that shouldn't get zombies inside.

PLEASE set a reasonably far distance outside houses where zombies can not under any circumstances spawn. Best long-term solution would be that zombies always spawn a considerable distance away from the player but their AIs then cause them to wander towards the player's area.

But please fix this by doing something easy to implement sooner rather than later. Until it's fixed I won't be playing. I spent too much time building this not to be able to use it.

BTW: I don't know how to embed them here but I posted public screen shots on here showing both the zombies inside and the compound so you can get a sense of how far out my walls are.

The infected have a spawn radius from the player, not the building the mist infected its around 50m'ish but the night infected it seems to be much closer :) so if you are in your base at 1 end of it, the other end could be within the infected spawn radius :)

What I do is divide my base up into small secure zones that way I know that no matter what zone i'm in, I'm safe to do as I please :)

Ah, well in that case I would HIGHLY recommend that there be 2 2 separate locations that the zombies/infected won't spawn near. The player and the registered house. spawn away from locations. The player and the registered house. If I'm not at my house and get back after dark it shouldn't have zombies running around inside if it has walls and I left it closed up.

Yeah i think 1 of the easier ways to do this would be too add a no spawn box to the inside of the large wall sections something that spreads like 30m (I mean the invisible boxes that developers use) inside or something then that would give an acceptable total width of 60m for opposite walls, giving a base secure zone :)

You should ALWAYS hide if the game is in a pre-build. Never take chances. Good for confirming but this happened many updates ago the same way.

Found this little fella downstairs in the morning, in the fully barricaded white house (chicken wire on windows and across the front porch, as well as the crate blocking the door), well within a 50m, and probably closer to 10m radius. Thankfully, I always close the bedroom door and I also had a suitcase blocking the top of the stairs.

@BaronVC so glad I don't use the whitehouse, not had this happen.........yet lol

@Jmmh1440 In this thread I have posted a vid that shows the spawn radius of the night infected :)

The walls are very time intensive to build so after going to all that trouble I can well understand that the disappointment of them not working as expected is pretty bad.

I agree that this would seem to be the best way forward to give players what they would expect to get from building a wall.

I think most folks tend to want to build these big, walled in bases but at this point in development with spawn locations all over the place it really is better to be as small as possible.

I'm sure Rati will eventually code in a safe zone radius based on where you make your active base. If it's in already it certainly isn't big enough.

Good morning all, how can I prevent zombie spawn in base? I am in the empty sawmill and built a very small wall base at the side connected to the mill by one of the small side entrances. In the small base is cabin c which is my base with Scott and two watchtowers. Every night spawn dozens of night zombies in the small base and stand on the side door closed by a chicken fence. Any chance to prevent this? It disturbs my sleep! Thanks for help!

Bottom line is that any place the player has built walls the infected should be excluded from spawning near. If the player leaves gates open then the infected should wander inside. But the infected should never spawn inside walled areas. It makes building walls pointless, which makes building fortified homes pointless which makes the game less fun for the players.

There are various ways to code this in the game that would be efficient. Very easy way would be to put a large (say 100+ m) exclusion zone around the house. If the game can already exclude for 50m around the player coding a 2nd exclusion bubble should be trivial. Ideally the game would exclude any walled off area the player has built in the game, even if its not their official home but that would take more effort to code.

Thanks for the info/input everyone.

Well I started over with a new game for this build. Built a hunting cabin up where the chickens & deer are and put walls around it. But its a small compound that isn't baby-proofed with chicken fences for survivors. Previous game I had built walls around the white house, they surrounded the whole place and gave me a parking area but the walls were closer in than these new ones. Both of those never, ever had infected spawn inside. Ever. So I figured this was new.

Thanks for the info. I'd also agree that there are way too many night infected.

There aren't a lot of things to build, which makes walls a more prominent option in the build menus. Plus Rati just added more to the walls with the floors, steps and guard towers. The ability to build guard towers will likely result in players building larger walled bases.

One other point. Since people can now build cabins and those cabins don't have upstairs bedrooms with doors this is kinda important. Because if they can get inside the big walls they can get to the cabin and then break in through the windows and kill the player while they sleep. Or as everyone posts disrupt their sleep continuously.

Per above posts by @BaronVC and @LostSailor this is a problem. Either dead or unable to rest is very little fun for the player.

P.S. I have never slept at my new base and given the situation it seems I never will. The walls are close enough in at my hunting cabin base that the infected don't spawn inside and thus I have no problem sleeping there. It seems like this cool new base I just built will be abandoned and left unused before I even got the chance to move in. Really kills my enthusiasm to play. :(

I haven't played in a while but in one of the earliest versions the infected DID NOT spawn inside the base walls. So it stands to reason that this should be easy to fix no?

I have the white house as a base and I find dead zombro's sometimes in the AM but it's no big deal. I have never been attacked at night in the house. ARE YOU SCARED Blah ha ha ha

After 42 days in the white house, last night a zombie spawn inside the house. Outside fence around and a second fence in front of the door.
