Pickaxe can't be removed from Main Hand inventory slot

I used the pickaxe to the point of 0.0%, but it won't destroy itself nor let me remove it manually from the Main Hand inventory slot.

select a different weapon or item, then go back into inventory and remove the pickaxe manually, you can't be holding an item and remove it at same time ..

That's not the situation here. I equip anything else and still nothing.

Posted an edited version of my previous reply on bugs threads I know the fixes didn't work for you, hope you don't mind, I just thought as you had made the this thread it would be good to let players know the cause and warn them on how to avoid it happening to them :)

The game is not resetting the hand to being empty, like when you put the tool or weapon away, ) To avoid it happening keep an eye on your tools durability and when it gets low swap it out don't let it break in use :)

Have you tried dragging another tool (or a new pickaxe) from your inventory, and dropping it on top of the broken pickaxe in your toolbar? The default behavior is to swap, which might help fix it. It might also be a null pointer item which would be why you can't select it, but why putting something in it's place may work.

I could use the same fix. I have run through every scenario for troubleshooting this issue. I don't think anything short of a save game fix is going to resolve it. If this is a common enough problem you could write a powershell tool to unequip all items in quickslot on a save file and make that public.

sent an invite :) I didn't make the offer in the bugs thread because I shouldn't be doing the dev's job lol I have another way to fix the issue i wouldn't exactly know how to make a tool to do it for players :) PM when you got the time :)

I want to get more info on this bug just to see what else could be at play here.

I have worked several different tools to 0.0% and it just disappears. Is this a bug just with the pickaxe that leaves it in the slot?

I'm running into this right now. I have the axe in main hand slot 1. I made sure it wasn't equipped while trying to remove it. I was trying to swap it out earlier when the percent got low and couldn't. Restarted the game. Same issue. Now it's at 0% and I can't use the main hand slot 1 at this point. Tried removing the axe by click and dragging it. Tried click and dragging multiple tools and weapons over it. I just get the dunk noise.

I'm not positive, but I think this started after I used "Q" to saw some logs into Wood Planks.

While I was troubleshooting the issue, I noticed my sledgehammer is now stuck in slot 2. Ruh roh. I hope there is a workaround for this.

I save all the time too. Problem here is I didn't catch the issue until I had already saved several times. I tried reloading and already had the issue.

Normally I would have multiple saves too, so I can revert further back if I need to. I don't think you can do that with this game.

I'm pretty sure the game is stuck thinking the tools in those slots are in use for some action.
