Loading problem with Hinterberg
I believe Hinterberg is the correct name. It is the third station in the DLC and it is the one with bug finding that last bit of trash (which I, too, am experiencing). However, loading the station is a huge issue for me.

When I went to load Hinterberg, it took forever to load. In fact, I ended up shutting down Windows as it appeared to become stuck. After restarting the computer, I went back to the game. Hinterberg did load, but only after a very long time. I thought it had hung up Windows again. I started working on the station and it lagged and then jumped quite a bit at first. Then, it seemed to even out a bit although it still ran slow and would lag here and there. I had cleaned up all of the trash that I could find. Like others, it was at 99% but said that there was another piece of trash by the 2nd and 3rd (I believe it was) tracks. I also had decorated all the rooms except for the first one (the lobby, I guess) on the first floor of the station. I also put the decorations on two of the three areas near the tracks in the back (sorry, I'm having a Fibro moment and can't think of the correct term for these areas at the moment). I still needed to finish the one area, the lobby on the main floor, and the bottom level of the station with the necessary decoration, furniture, and the rest. However, I needed to leave the game for a bit before doing that. When I hit exit, the game stopped working and, again, stopped Windows. I had to once again do a hard shut down. Later on when I came back, when I tried to load the game, it stopped Windows from running again. I did another hard shut down and tried loading the game again after restarting it. This time, it took forever to load.....at least the bit it did load. I could see the station on the screen that is suppose to be there, but it was mostly white and, yep, Windows stopped running again. I was forced to do another hard shut down. I've not tried to load it again tonight.

The game has been slow to load at times in the past, but not like this. And, the first two stations seemed to load a bit slower than the base game, but it was certainly tolerable. The game lagged a bit for a few seconds with those first two stations, but I was able to play with after that without incident.

I'll note, too, that when I run the game, I make sure to have any unnecessary programs running. I guess I could shut down Norton, but I haven't since the game has worked with it running before. It just seems, thus far, to be Hinterberg with the problem. If I can ever get it to load again, I'll try finishing it up and then see if the next station loads or not. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. TIA!

I also have problems loading Hinterberg even after lowering my graphics. I don't know what it is about this map but it needs some kind of overhaul so it runs better because I'm so sick of it crashing my game every time I try to play!

So, I went in and lowered all of the graphics to the lowest setting. I was finally able to finish the level, but just barely. It still took forever to load (even after restarting the game after changing the settings) and then, once loaded, it took a long time before the game was playable. It still kept lagging a lot while I finished furnishing what was still needed. And, then it took forever for the game to go back to the office. I'm glad that level is over with. It reminded me of that huge station in the base game. I don't remember the name of it, but it is the one where you have to find the parts of the clock, donate the clock to the museum, and tear down the scaffolding at the front door. I had big issues with that station with loading and lagging, too. Maybe it has to do with the size of the stations? I don't know. I'm just glad it is over with. I hope you can get your game to stop crashing long enough to finish the level, hammersmashedlauren.

I was finally able to finish myself, and it seems like the size could be the issue. That or too much garbage everywhere, just like Farmley (that's the station with the clock!). Oakdown (the 3rd to last station with all the snow) is bigger than both of those maps and loads perfectly fine but has almost no garbage to clean. So I'm thinking it could be that. What helped me too is closing out of every single program on my computer except Steam and that seemed to help significantly with my performance. I'm glad you finished though, and hopefully both maps load better in the future!

Is it better after the new patch?

Is it better after the new patch?

I don't know. I had *finally* finished it and was on the last station when the patch came out. I know that after Hinterberg, the rest of the stations were very slow to load and they had terrible lagging and were jumping once they were loaded (of course, still nowhere near the problems of Hinterberg) and then continued with those issues at times throughout the stations. When the patch came out, I was trying to finish the last station but had an issue with that (as discussed in another post). After the patch, the last station ran much more smoothly. It did lag briefly when first loaded, but that was more than doable, so no complaints. The whole thing just ran better. That being said, I wasn't up to trying Hinterberg again. Actually, I haven't played the game since. I do open it at times to play in sandbox, but in the past when I did that, I always avoided doing the level where you have to fix the clock and then turn it over to the museum as well as the first time for taking down scaffolding (sorry, I don't remember the station's name). I may do the same for Hinterberg. Both stations gave me such a headache that I didn't enjoy either one. However, since Hinterberg isn't as big as the other troublesome station was and since the patch was suppose to fix some of the issues, I may try to give Hinterberg another try at some point after doing some of the other stations again first. I do *really* appreciate that y'all are listening to the issues with the DLC and working on getting them fixed. Thank you for the patch!

Happy that it helped somehow ;) Hope you will enjoy the game - with no headaches ;)
