Cthulhu Mythos - Inspired by, or takes place in?

I'm curious. I see this game is described as being Lovecraftian, but does it take place directly in the Cthulhu Mythos universe, or is it inspired by it?

Afaik it is solely inspired and all old gods/monsters/phenomena are original content

There's nods to Lovecraft here and there but I would say the content is much more heavily inspired from Junji Ito's work which in the end still involves a lot of cosmic horror, just Japanese cosmic horror.

Think of it as the horrible tentacle baby of the Cthulhu Mythos and Junji Ito crawling out of the ocean to mess up a Japanese fishing village in the 80's.

Lovecraft inpsartion is weird thing eye planet is clearly inspired by hellstar remina and ghorth

both are inspired by lovecraft works.

This game is like that too its a love letter both for lovecraft and junji.

Junji Ito has several times stated that Lovecraft was an inspiration for his works. But he does his own thing and isn't a horrible racist. Much like this game.

If you guys want another game that's hella Lovecraft then give Lust for Darkness a look.
