If they do a full re-do of all assets to make the characters more consistent, but offer fans a card-pack to revert it to classic art then I don't see a problem with it (as it's just down to subjective taste at that point), but the fact that only a few assets are changed and look wholly different from the older art is what is setting people off, i'd gather.
Can you cite some sources for that? I'd be interested in knowing if this is actually true.
Also it feels kinda strange, since the places the art is changed are inconsistent, since Aiko has her room art changed, but her bust portrait is the same as always, but with Mizuki, it's only for her bust portrait and you can also click her twice on character select, making her preview show up with a magical circle, using her previous artwork.
I don't know if I'd actually believe that, but quite frankly I'm not sure which explanation is worse - that he had to quickly take a dump on the game out of obligation, or the sheer incompetence (mental and otherwise) necessary to make those replacements and think "yeah, this is good, people will like this." Given the fact that people were having to explain basic art theory to him and how to align facial features, I'm guessing he's just covering his ass.
Lmao, deboonked
Some of the characters new art looks like bad cosplay of the characters they are supposed to be.
For what it's worth, the dev just posted on discord that we're getting "fixed" character artwork tomorrow. The accusations were never really corroborated from what I gather -- I'd never even heard of the controversy until this post.
unless you cite a source then this claim is complete and other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. main reason being is because of the trailer art and animations being "front and center" as a promotion.
