How exactly do I save the game?

I saw a save and quit button, but it said I have to solve a mystery first. So I did, and couldn't find the save button again. Went back to the main menu, no save button. Started a new mystery, couldn't find the save button. I'm confused. What am I missing?

You can only save and quit in between mysteries at home. Please remember that a run consists of 5 mysteries and the lighthouse. If you got that message about not being able to save and quit, you tried to save and quit before the run started properly. You could consider the 5 mysteries as levels in the game and the home location as a save point.

So start a mystery - solve it fully until you get one of its endings - at this point you will go back to the screen with the choice to go home or to the lighthouse - go home - you can save from there. However, there is a condition which disables the save even then for atmospheric reasons (being haunted by "something truely evil"), however that doesn't come up often.

Thanks for including the 'Haunted by something truly evil' bit. That happened on my first run which had me a bit confused as to why I couldn't save. Would have finished the run in one sitting had I known that was the case, ah well, live and learn.
