For a game made to be played with a mouse, I understand why the controller works the way it does. But it would be very much appreciated if it could just... cycle between options with the D-Pad/Stick and use a confirm button, instead of needing to manually move the cursor around as some kind of virtual mouse.
I pre-ordered a physical copy of one of the console versions because I wanted to support the dev, and I really hope the console versions at least have a console-friendly setup for it.
Edit History: Noticed I made some typos. Whoops~
Ah so it's THAT type of controller support :( Thanks for confirming this for me, I was really hoping it wouldn't be that. Ah well :(
Just to elaborate, it's kind of a hybrid setup.
The UI will display hotkeys over SOME options, but pressing the button just moves the cursor there without actually selecting it. While you can click anywhere manually, there's effectively shortcuts to save time.
For example, combat has 4 categories of actions (Offense, Defense, etc) and the shoulder buttons on controllers will move the cursor to the button for each category. You then need to "click" on the category with the button, and then manually move the cursor to select your actions for the turn. There's then a shortcut button for "Launch sequence" to activate your queued actions and let the turn play out.
It's not unplayable, but it just flows infinitely better with a mouse.
