I'm also curious how you are comparing the demo/tutorial to the full version. One mystery versus 12 (also now in a sandbox) plus achievements and custom games.
And Workshop is surely gonna blow the roof off, not to mention more official content.
I've heard this is a one man dev team, so I'd say what we have even now in EA is really impressive and fun.
Previous demo had 3 (scissor, festival and mansion) mysteries... but since most mysteries are progressed in same way (always pressing the circled area to beat the game) I wish dev made more mysteries like festival one or scissor ones.
But if this is a solo project, that's really impressive. this would drive him nuts -10 REASON
The game is great.
You can play this game different 'ways'. It sounds like Workshop support would fit your tastes best. Take care,
EDIT: there are still surprises for you, I assure. Have you seen the gem ending, for example?
on the topic - there's more than enough content for that tiny pricetag, and with time there will only be more
got nothing but respect for the developer
Couple of hours really. I mean a single mystery can be solved in like 10 to 15 minutes. Is gonna probably take you more because most likely you'r not gonna play 5 new mysteries each times and it can happen that you just started but keep seeing those mysteries that had 2 ending that you finish already or the 1 end mystery.
That been said, i would feel that's great replay value. I am keep playing and i'm 90% done with the whole thing.
Also the randomization does help with the replay experience even if you could get mystery or events that you saw already.
Probably there is something that we all miss still. For instance i asked about the tiny key because i felt like there are more locks and not just the one in the locker room and i was right. It's a random event with 3 possibility and i still need to see what happen with the tiny key in that event.
Some other stuff is there but bugged like void. I wanna try void and i'll totally play this again once void is ready. Same goes for the tapes.
That being said, Xross, love your avatar and i'm not gonna help you carrying your books but i'm with regarding what you expressed in your first post. The game does need more mysteries and also more random events. Also it need the possibility to trigger a bad ending. For once, a bad ending it's on point with the overall inspiration material. I'm not against having the vanilla ending and or an ending that is kinda positive but i'm against not having a bad one.
Best thing would be an ending that takes in account the 5 ending you got during the game and the doom level; also maybe considering the curses you might have, at least if you end with a high level of doom. I can see how doing a perfect run could free you from your curses.
Maybe adding some sort of ending for the curses would be too much but the 5 mysteries and the doom level together are pretty easy to implement. It could be something like oh you just discovered the vial so in relation to that something weird could happen to the ex customers of the ramen shop. Or leaving the huge eye intact instead of liquefied that eyehole could have a line about how after a while, students start to vanish again in the forest. If you keep do the B ending at school and actually use/keep the scissor..you might become the scissor lady and so forth.
Meh i want more mysteries and weed.
Add weed to the illegal den
Lots of option there.
I was thinking but maybe it could be bad for the players but you get a speed modifier for your action. However is a negative one, just like nicotine rush give you a boost. Shouldn't be a big amount otherwise it would be pointless.
For what concern reason, yes it must do something related to reason but what if you get a reason damage reduction instead of a one use recovery.
Potentially it could give you a temporary boost in charisma.
Since increasing in this game is often related to you wasting time..i can see how weed could had doom but it's the symbol of hope for me so i don't know. I mean i was able to pack and move because i had my weed, otherwise i would have been doom, true story.
But on that note, you could add indica and sativa where indica could give an increase level of doom; slowing you down a little and boost your reason or the reason reduction damage.
Sativa could give other things and other negative effect. The charisma bonus i mention earlier could be from sativa only.
But yeah this game need weed. In a scenario like this i would need without any doubt, weed to survive the horrors.
Considering is japan back 198x, weed would probably be in the illegal den. Could also be a random encounter where you see someone that could sell it to you. Keeping in mind that the police doesn't really have a grip on the city, the encounter could be downtown, in the seashore (since there's already the illegal den there) and maybe school.....if we were in US, school for sure. I mean the library alone..but in japan, i don't know. For sure shady places would have it tho.
