I think permadeath is the only thing i do not like anymore. :)
So, how does saving/loading work in this game?
Well, yes, you can lose in this game. There do appear to be permanent unlocks between runs if you earn in-game Achievements.
My 2cents - the term 'roguelite' hardly comes to mind when I play this. I think there are _far_ better, more specific, descriptors. I think 'unique'. I think 'story driven'. I think 'somewhat puzzle-like'. That's just my 2cents.
I'm not trying to sell you on this. This is quite niche. I'm just saying I wouldn't let that overly-used term bog you down. You can always refund. You'd know exactly if you want it well within 2 hours. Plus there is a demo on Itch.
I don't know if you can save scum. I do know there is a save function.
Yes I agree. Thank you.
Thanks. :)
In a certain way, it has similarities with FTL (one of the first games that pushed the term roguelite), but this game is much more narrative and less micromanagement.
Yeah, I agree. It is definitively not a rogue-like, since it is closer to CYOA / point-and-click in gameplay, but shares a lot of design markers of a rogue-lites.
So it is safe to say that if someone does not like those elements (perma-death, content unlocked through multiple gameplays, randomized content, etc.), they will not enjoy this game very much.
However, I would probably say that it has a lot more in common with the Arkham Horror tabletop game (that it clearly takes a lot of influence from) and actually reminds me a lot more of the old Fighting Fantasy books, so while it does share a few mechanics and concepts from Roguelikes I wouldn't say it would be fair to sum the game up as that genre.
