Gyo is a bit cheesy, though.
His short work is fantastic too, I think it's also collected in books. So yeah, I'd recommend one of his short stories collections and Uzumaki.

After you've gotten used to the style and darker-than-gallows humor, I'd reccomend checking out Gyo. Best way I'd describe it is if you tried to make an anime about how Giger's biomechanoid civilization got itself off the ground.
