Oh, and I've alreadu tried the trick of changing, in game.ini, (It) in (it). Nothing to do about it.
I had an issue loading the game for the first time following installation. The opening cutscene would loop continuously.
Solution: Browse to the game folder (...Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Island) and right click on "DeadIslandGame.exe" and "Create Shortcut". Throw that on your desktop and see if it will run correctly from there.
Since doing that the game has ran perfect for me. Great game.
The installed shortcut URL looks something like "steam://rungameid/####".
Guess I should have pointed that out prior.
How could I have all this issues?

I opened a ticket with deep silver tech support and they replied (didn't help):
Dear Customer,
thank you for your inquiry.
Dead Island was developed, tested and released before a final version of Windows 8 was available. Here are some general tips you can try in this situation:
- try to launch the game with as little other running tasks as possible.
Maybe another application running in the background is causing these problems.
- start the game with the option "run as administrator" (right-click on the program symbol and choose the corresponding option from there)
- start the game in compatibility mode for windows XP or Windows 7 (right-click on the program symbol and choose the corresponding option from there)
- install the latest version of DirectX 9.0c from www.microsoft.com
Therefore we unfortunately can't guarantee the operability on your system, please use a Windows operating system which is officially supported by Dead Island.
Note: If you reply to this Email please do not edit the subject line. Thank you!

I'm also running Windows 8 x64 so I doubt it's that.
Maybe try and run the game with only 1 or 2 cores or with hyperthreading disabled and see if that gets it working.
I have no problems with an x6 1100t. Maybe the game doesn't like the hyperthreading on that CPU for some reason?
