Cannot write in game folder. You don't have write permission.
I reinstalled this game recently and have been getting this error ever since, when I try to launch the game. I've tried everything I can find on the internet. Anyone else having this problem?

Make sure you have administrator rights.

Let me just throw out a few ideas to see if I can get a better understanding of your situation...

Do you have Steam and your games in 2 separate locations?

Are you able to access the folders by navigating to them yourself? Located somewhere probably like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Island".. There is also the folder in My Documents...

If you can access them, try right-clicking DeadIslandGame in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Island" and run the game as Administrator. If not, change that folder's permissions..

Do you have UAC on or off?

Okay, I'm unable to do anything with the folders in My Documents. For some reason all the folders are transparent.

Ok, that's interesting.... So if the folders appear transparent, that sounds like they are "hidden" and you might be able to see them because you have "Hidden files and folders" turned to "Show". You should still be able to right-click, select "Properties", and uncheck "Hidden"...

And if this isn't the case, I don't know what to tell you...

Alright, It was all hidden, but I still can't save anything to my documents/pics/etc. (this is a reformatted HDD)
