restore a saved game or export and import it
How can I do that?
I have a Dead Island installation with a current progress
But now I have reinstalled the whole operating system windows 8.1 and steam also.
I still keep this previous installation.

sorry, I had to do nothing
only installing the game in the new OS installation and steam client and playing it cotinued automatically from the point I left
I gues thanks to steam cloud service.

Hello jmriga,

Whenever you do a reinstallation of either your operating system or Steam, I suggest that you and anyone else who reads this to back up the "/userdata/" directory located inside the Steam installation directory wherever it is located.

As a warning though, even if "/userdata/" contains - most - saved games, there are however exceptions to this rule. For those games, you will need to locate the save games location yourself unfortunately.
